Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento

Pompeii was amazing but...

Pompeii was amazing but the advert said that the tour would be by a certified archaeologist, which was not true. the rest of the trip going to Sorrento fell very much like our tour guide who was not very friendly, was taking us to a couple of businesses that his family owned. lemoncellos stand on the side of the road with a guy who got angry when people didn't buy. a seaside restaurant that again felt like there could have been better choices.

Awesome tour

The total experience was awesome! The breakfast was good before we went on the tour. The tour guide was a notch above the rest. Very glad we got her. She covered most everything we wanted before the sky opened up on us. It really poured with lightning. That got a bit scary so our guide took as as fast as possible to the museum and stayed until it calmed down. Then went to lunch but again it was pouring so we weren’t able to see very much of the shoreline. The driver was great! Don’t hesitate to book this. It was excellent.

Wonderful experience; Highly recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our small van excursion from Rome to Pompeii. There were 7 in our van and we joined another van’s group upon arrival in Pompeii. It made for a nice and friendly group. Our coordinators/ drivers - Luca and Yeshua were wonderful. They made the drive fun and coordinated all the stops. I give our driver - Yeshua - tons of credit for his nerves of steel driving through narrow streets. He made it seem effortless. Once in Pompeii, Gino took over as our guide through the ruins. His enthusiasm for the history of Pompeii was infectious. He truly made the history come alive with stories of daily life. One thing to note is that Pompeii is an ancient city and as such was not designed for those with any type of mobility issues. The streets are made of stones that are uneven in size and not flat. Many of the stone steps are not of even heights. Some require quite a large step up or down. These can be difficult to manage for some - especially when the city is crowded with tourists. There are no hand rails. Just something to keep in mind. After Pompeii, we drove to Sorrento with a stop along the way for a photo opp and Limoncello. We had a delicious lunch in Sorrento with a choice of pasta or pizza and wine. There were plenty of pasta and pizza options to choose from. Lunch was on a terrace overlooking the water. Who could ask for a more relaxing way to wind up the excursion?

Amazing guide in Pompeii

Fabulous tour of Pompeii with Graci (or Grazzi??) Her knowledge was vast & has a real passion for the town. She guides her group through a very crowded place very well. Our driver Joseph drove expertly & pointed out interests along the way. Our lunch spot in Sorrento, my only gripe is lunch was a bit basic in a country renown for their food, but over all it made us want to return to Sorrento again. We will always use Crown Tours where we can.

It was a great experience!

This was a great trip. The divers, guide, Pompeii, all of it. Great piece of history to experience, the food was fantastic, and more! The ride was long but the drivers were engaged and the other passengers also made the trip worth it! 100% recommend if you have the time for it.
