Only 90 mins in Pompeii
Our tour guide was Jenni. We were picked up at our cruise port around 9:50 and driven by bus with 2 other couples to the local train station. For the next 50 minutes we sat there with no explanation as families, couples and other folks boarded the bus during that time. It was a completely packed bus. Next we were driven to Vesuvius and given 1.5 hours to hike up and down. Our guide sat in the bus and did not come with us. The hike up doesn’t last long but is incredibly steep - be aware. It was absolutely worth it - the view was amazing. Next we boarded the bus and waited an additional 20 minutes for the elderly and families with young children to make their way down the volcano. We were told we were making a stop for 10 minutes to visit a lemon farm stand. It was more like 30 mins but was worth it. I purchased some lemon gin which was amazing. The owners were very helpful and entertaining. Next we boarded the bus for a 45 minute ride to the city of Pompeii for a ‘quick’ lunch. It was a pizza place and the food was very good, however, our tour guide disappeared without warning and didn’t return until an hour later. We were very antsy to get going to the ruins because we had to be back to the ship by 5:30 and now it was 3pm. We finally went to the ruins tour which we had to cut incredibly short due to needing to catch our separate shuttle at 4:20. Our tour guide (Genni) keep telling us it was only 20 mins to the port, however the Pompeii guide told us it was closer to 35 mins. Google maps had it at 45 mins. We came out of the ruins at the meeting time and Genni was very slow and lacked a sense of urgency to get our shuttle called. So much so that I began pricing flights to meet our cruise at the next port if we missed it. Our shuttle driver was great and although the traffic was insane he knew a back route and got us there at 5:15. I believe that much of our day was wasted waiting for families and Genni. He did not seem to enjoy being a guide and for the price we paid for this day (256 dollars for 2) we expected to have a lengthy time in Pompeii. I highly recommend seeing the volcano and Pompeii, but I can’t recommend this tour specifically because we were very disappointed by the time wasted and the lack of time at Pompeii.

Amazing site and history.
Pompei and Vesuvius were well worth the tour. The transport arrangements could have been smoother but staff were friendly and helpful.

Great tour and views!
Excellent tour of Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. Our host was very nice and let us know what was happening the whole time. The tour guide at Pompeii was extremely knowledgeable and quite funny. Of course, the view from the top of Mt Vesuvius is unmatched. Highly recommend.

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive cost?
+
Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive?
+
Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Visit Mt Vesuvius & Pompei all inclusive start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
