    Amazing day!

Ferose was amazing! He was a great driver and was able to answer all our questions and was a very nice person. We felt at ease being 2 female travellers and he was really friendly. Would definitely recommend. Also pay in cash because it is better for the tour guides!

    SCAM!!!

This company is nothing more than a scam. My husband and I booked a “safari tour” on Viator that costed $220 USD only to find out it was only for a driver to take us to the park, where we were then charged another $140 USD (to man who we found out later is friends with the owner of the company and WAY overcharged us for the park fees). The owner of the company had messaged me right after I booked the tour and had immediately asked if he could refund me the money so we could pay in cash instead. The ad was so misleading and he was very dishonest about how much the fees were going to be so we took out cash but once we were way overcharged at the park we didn’t have enough cash left to pay the full, absurd, amount to the driver which now felt like a total scam as we could have just hired a driver for $50 USD to take us to the park. We paid the driver the rest of the money we had, and tour operator at first offered to drop the price for the tour if we “paid the rest”, which we had already paid to all of the people involved in this scam, and when we said no he called the police on us. We are honest people, we paid everyone involved in the day who offered us a service, except for the con-artist “owner” of the company who truly deserved nothing at that point. Of course the police sided with him and we ended up having to pay him the rest of the money. If you booked a tour with this company and you were happy with it, it’s only because you were ignorant to how much you were being scammed and overcharged. This is just a group of criminals squeezing every last penny out of honest tourists. Absolutely disgusting and so disheartening.

Response from the operator: Dear madam, Sorry for the inconvience happened however we did not force clients to book the tour with us and it is really important to see whats included and excluded for each tour which was a misunderstanding occured after you booked with us as we have clearly mentioned the entrance is not included and once you paid the entrance you tried to runaway from our driver telling him to wait till you have your dinner and then we finally found you at the hotel where you refused to pay us as you paid for the entrance As a reputed company we never mislead our clients as well as we do not force for money but what you did was a wrong thing where you tried to runaway We apologize if there is any mistakes from our side but hope you will also see the inclusions clearly when booking a tour in future with any other companies

    Highly recommended

The safari in itself is really worth it. The organisation was impeccable and the staff was very accommodating with all the personalised requests. Also, fair price for what is offer (pick-up and drop-off, entry ticket, safari jeep and guide). In short, recommended!

Udawalawe National Park Private Safari: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Colombo.

How much does Udawalawe National Park Private Safari cost?

    +

Prices start at $172 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Colombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Udawalawe National Park Private Safari take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.

Is Udawalawe National Park Private Safari worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 48 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Udawalawe National Park Private Safari?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Udawalawe National Park Private Safari suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Udawalawe National Park Private Safari?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Udawalawe National Park Private Safari start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Colombo?

    +

On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Colombo?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Colombo?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
