Very good option for solo travellers
Kajan collected me from the hotel at 6:30am and drove me on my own to the National Park, allowing for a coffee/toilet stop on the way. I was the only one on the safari, due to it being off season, and it was enjoyable. Please remember to bring 2000 rupias to tip the Safari tour guide, Safari jeep driver and Kajan (if you are doing it all solo). Although the trip cost me $400, plus the entry fees to get into the safari and the tips, I feel it was worth it and Kajan was great.

Elephant city
No fault with the driver or the elephants. They did their job. Tour company might as well have not been there, no itinerary offered beforehand. No personalized contact. Might as well have found a driver myself.
Response from the operator: Dear Avid_M, Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you had a smooth transfer and enjoyed the Udawalawe safari experience. For this tour, we provide confirmed pickup details a day prior, along with seamless transportation and safari arrangements. However, we understand that you would have preferred a more detailed itinerary in advance, and we appreciate your input. We will work on improving our communication to ensure future guests have clearer expectations. We truly value your thoughts and hope to welcome you on another tour in the future. Best regards, Jeev

Excellent trip, with plenty of elephants
An excellent day out, with a courteous and informative driver. We saw *loads* of elephants, including some very close up, and got to experience an authentic side to Sri Lankan culture. It’s a long day — with around 8 hours of driving — but well worth doing if you’re short on time or restricted by location and want to see elephants in the wild whilst in Sri Lanka.
Response from the operator: Dear Morgan, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience of your Udawalawe National Park safari with us! We're thrilled to hear that you had an excellent day out and enjoyed the company of our courteous and informative driver. It's fantastic that you were able to witness numerous elephants up close and personal during the safari. Observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat truly is a remarkable experience. We're also delighted that you felt a genuine connection to Sri Lankan culture during your visit. We understand that the journey might have been a bit lengthy, but we're glad to know that you found the experience well worth it. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us, and we're honored that you chose to spend your day with us, making memories amidst the stunning wildlife and landscapes of Udawalawe National Park. We hope you left with unforgettable memories, and we would be absolutely delighted to welcome you back for another adventure in the future. Thank you again for your kind words and for choosing our safari for your Sri Lankan wildlife exploration. Warm regards, Jeev

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Colombo.
How much does Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo cost?
+
Prices start at $175 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Colombo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo take?
+
Plan for about 12 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Colombo is not rushed.
Is Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Colombo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 12-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Colombo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Colombo and add a light layer if any part of the 12-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Udawalawe National Park Safari With Transfers From Colombo start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Colombo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Colombo?
+
On Outty we rank every Colombo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Flexi dates on all 5 to 7 days packages for car and English speaking driver, Sri Lanka Personal Tour Driver in private vehicle, 08 Nights in Magical Sri Lanka. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Colombo?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Colombo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
