Please consider this before turtle spotting

Too many noisy motor boats and people to expect to see turtles. This is a rip off don’t support people who are not caring for these endangered creatures. Also rubbish on the beach - why can’t the businesses running these trips clean up after people? Ruining a beautiful natural place. Not for me.

    ****Animal cruelty****

One poor turtle was spotted and was circled by 4 plus boats even though it was advertised as an ‘eco’ tour. The guides also advertised the fact that jet skis aren’t allowed in this area and motor boats are limited due to the motor being so loud for the turtles under the water. This poor turtle was circled by multiple big sightseeing boats and I can’t imagine how loud it was for them. The boats also lingered for a while so everyone could get their photo opportunities. I wouldn’t recommend this tour for anyone, especially for any animal lovers out there. Disgusting, terrible experience. Me and my sister were crying as it was so traumatic to witness.

    Short Summer Holiday

I was very disappointed after this bad experience of the tour for seeing Turtles (caretta caretta) for the number of boat and motorboats in the area with a crash risk among them. The thing was very far from turtles seeing but very similar to a stressed turtles hunting. Besides, not to mention the visit to the turtle island (Matathonisi Island) invaded by tourists who pay little attention to the place who arrive with small and large boats not at all interested in the turtles and their protection, but only in a cold beer and other drinks sold by bar boats anchored on the "turtle" beach not at all equipped even to collect garbage. In the front sea sea in addition many motorboats driven by inexperienced people with a serious danger for the swimmers. In my opinion this experience is not to tell and to suggest for the poor turtles protection. The Zakinthos Island deserve more than this noisy and rude turism ……

The actual trip was so good, but the waiting was more annoying.

Before the trip the communication was good. But the car ride was a little weird because the driver was late. Then we can't find the boat and nobody helped us. We waited an hour for the ride and there was no shadow. After an hour a man said we got a private boat and they are so sorry about the waiting. The boat driver was so kind and helpful. The trip was very nice, we saw a turtle as well.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zakynthos.

How much does Turtle Spotting Cruise in Zakynthos cost?

    +

How long does Turtle Spotting Cruise in Zakynthos take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zakynthos is not rushed.

Is Turtle Spotting Cruise in Zakynthos worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.7/5 across 93 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Zakynthos, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

How far in advance should I book Turtle Spotting Cruise in Zakynthos?

    +

Around 33 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zakynthos can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zakynthos and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Zakynthos?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Zakynthos?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Zakynthos?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
