About this experience

In Green Life we share much more than a snorkeling tour: we share a part of our home. We are a local and family cooperative formed by people who have grown up in Akumal and who have created memories in these waters throughout their lives. What makes this experience special is the opportunity to discover the bay alongside people who know and love this place. Our tours take place in small groups, allowing us to offer closer and more personalized attention, always with respect to sea turtles and the natural environment. In addition to swimming alongside sea turtles in their natural habitat, you can admire the richness of the marine life of the bay and take pictures and videos of your experience to preserve this special memory. More than a tourist activity, we want you to live Akumal from a local, authentic and human perspective, creating memories that accompany you long after your visit.

Fantastic Family Experience

We were so pleased with everything about this experience. Alex met us ahead of time (we’d arrived early) and explained everything about the beach access and nature park so well. He took us to Ray who was incredible. Ray told us lots about the animals and went at our pace, slowing down and being patient with our 5 year old who loved every second. We had a private tour, just the three of us and it felt very personal. We were lucky to see many turtles, stings rays and schools of different fish too. It felt very safe and it’s clear that the guides really care for the nature around, taking the time to explain about keeping our distance and giving the animals the time and space they need. Ray took photos and videos, so that we could relax and soak up the moment, these were sent later that evening with ease and all included too! Would definitely recommend and will be using again when we return!

Magical experience

Alex picked us up and walked with us to the beach. He was very friendly. During the snorkeling tour, our guide showed us several sea turtles and different kinds of fish. We really enjoyed the tour and appreciated how hard our guide worked to find the turtles so we could see them up close.

Magical Mexican memory

Ray was our guide, he did a great job finding & showing us the turtles away from other groups. He also shared his knowledge about the turtles & their environment. Thank you for a magical experience.

Fantastic Experience

This was a fantastic experience! Alex met us at the 7-11, and he took us to the beach to meet Raymundo, our snorkeling guide. Both gentlemen were very friendly and accommodating. My husband and I got to see a couple of sea turtles as well as several kinds of colorful fish. The pictures Raymundo took of the turtles were amazing! Way better than anything I could have gotten on my own. I would highly recommend this package to anyone looking for a private snorkel tour with pictures included.

Alex and Raymondo were excellent! Alex met us early at the 711 and led us to the beach. He was very friendly and informative. Raymondo was an amazing tour guide. We saw two turtles, a barracuda, eagle ray, sting ray, and tons of fish! I highly recommend getting the first tour of the day, there was hardly anyone else in the water!

Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.

How much does Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included cost?

+

Prices start at $899 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included take?

+

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.

Is Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 80 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable family friendly in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 1-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included?

+

Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Turtle Snorkeling in Akumal | Local Tour + Photos Included start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?

+

On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
