Aventuras Mayas - DO NOT BOOK with this company!
We booked this excursion through Vacation Planners. We paid approx. $189 per person and there were 5 of us. Our tour guide rushed our entire day. We first headed to Tulum and only spent about an hour there. Guide walked us through very quickly and only stopped a handful of times to explain a few things. I don't believe we were in the ruins park a full hour. Guide then took us to gift shop for tequila tasting and said we only had 15 mins. Since no one really wanted tequila, guide rounded everyone up to head back to van. No time to shop. We then headed to Zipline. What should have been 7 ziplines, was cut down to 4 ziplines because of long lines. Once done, we headed to have lunch at approx. 1:30ish. Again, we were very rushed and I don't believe we were even able to sit & enjoy lunch for more than 30 mins. We then headed to change into our swimsuits so we could go into the cenote. I had water shoes on and he questioned my water shoes. I told him i would not take them off b/c they were water shoes. From entry to exit of the cenote, maybe 20 minutes if even that. Headed back to change and got back on the van to head back to hotel. When we arrived at our hotel, most people just got off and headed inside. My husband handed him a $20 tip and he was so ungrateful. He looked at the $20 & said he was used to receiving tips of $100 or more. If this is how they accept tips, I do not recommended giving these people a tip. I will never book with this company again. NOTE: Before the end of our day, we purchased the digital photo package $65. Gave them my email address and were told we would receive a link within 24 hours to download our photos. Two days later, we still had not received our photos. I had to visit the Vacation Planners desk and ask them to send Aventuras Mayas an email about our photos. Finally, on our final day while at the airport to leave, we received our photos.

Tulum and Ziplining Tour
We went on the Tulum, Ziplining, and Cenote tour today. Highly recommend! Atilano was a fantastic tour guide. He was highly informative yet entertaining at the Tulum ruins, and made the ziplining and cenote experiences truly enjoyable. The cenote was completely underground, which was stunning. The tour also included lunch and some time to walk around and shop. Nothing felt rushed which I appreciated.

Excellent guides made for a memorable experience!
This excursion was the first of its kind for my family. We visited the Mayan ruins at Tulum, swam & snorkeled in an underground cave in a cenote, and snorkeled at an inlet near to one of the largest natural reefs in the world. We had an absolutely wonderful time, at least in part to our guides. Flash, Isabel, and even our driver Hector, were awesome. We got a history lesson from Flash on the way to the ruins, which continued once on site, that gave us a better appreciation of the architecture. We were able to actually understand the significance of what were were looking at. We then headed to the cenote with Isabel who was very helpful, safety-minded, and very environmentally conscious. Following her and learning all about the Mayan significance of cenotes, and about the natural ecosystem within, just added to the awesome experience of the snorkeling. The waters were crystal clear, and the lighting inside was enough to take in the awesome views without ruining them by being flashy. We finished up with some snorkeling at a nearby inlet where we got to see way more fish than the last snorkeling trip we took in the gulf. Isabel made sure to point out area highlights and distinct features we might have otherwise overlooked. We left the site exhausted, and thrilled with the experience. The only downside was the overall lack of time at each location, but that comes with cramming so much stuff into a single day. I would gladly go back to any of the locations we visited.

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.
How much does Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya cost?
+
Prices start at $129 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.
Is Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 81 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 6-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Tulum Xtreme from Riviera Maya start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
