It is also famous for its vineyards and the legendary Est! Est!! Est! wine, which owes its name to an intriguing medieval tale. According to the legend, in 1111 AD, German King Henry V traveled to Rome for his coronation, accompanied by his wine-loving bishop, J. Defuk. The bishop’s servant, Martino, was tasked with scouting the best taverns along the way, marking the good ones with "Est" (It is here!). Upon reaching Montefiascone, he found the wine so exceptional that he tripled the inscription, adding exclamation points: Est! Est!! Est!!! After 15 min we arrived to "Civita Bagnoregio" also called "dying city" because the land on which it stands is slowly falling away and will inevitably disappear when the final pieces crumble into the Calanchi Valley. Let yourself be enchanted by the unique atmosphere before returning to the port.

Connected to the rest of the world by a three hundred meter bridge, Civita di Bagnoregio is a charming village which will make you feel you are visiting a world that no longer exists. Made up of old houses, narrow streets and surrounded by beautiful landscapes, walk through this magnificently unique setting. The Romanesque Arch at the entrance to Civita was built by the Etruscans 2,500 years ago and all that remains of the Renaissance Palace is the facade, the rest collapsed into the canyon. Visit the largest Piazza: the site of donkey races on the first Sunday of June and the second Sunday of September. In the evening, the piazza is the place to be, as what’s left of the town socialises there. Visit Maria’s Garden, follow the main road to the far side of town to see a lovely garden with canyon views. After that transfer to Bomarzo

Amazing tour with Mirco through My Love Italy!
One of the best tours we’ve ever had!! My friend and I were on a cruise and our original tour through the cruise line was canceled. We booked the “The Dying City "Civita Bagnoregio" w/wine tasting from Port.” The price was actually better than our cruise line tour and it ended up being a private tour because no one else booked the remaining 4 spots. Mirco was our tour guide and let me tell you…wow! He was SO awesome! He clearly loves what he does and it made the entire day so much fun. He showed us so many scenic locations. My favorite thing was how he would get happy right along with us for the grand reveal of each location because he knew how we felt seeing it for the first time. I loved how much he enhanced the excitement of each of these moments. He gave us current and historical information about what we drove by and what we stopped to see. He pointed out the olive groves and explained some of the farming techniques that are used. We learned a lot about making olive oil that we never knew as we drove. We visited Tuscania, Montefiascone and Civita Bagnoregio. Tuscania was beautiful and very calm because it was early morning. The winery was in Montefiascone and it was called Antica Cantina Leonardi. Our host was fun and knowledgeable. They served food with each glass of wine so we never had to get lunch. The wine was delicious and the location was beautiful. We liked this stop a lot. Last was Civita Bagnoregio. Mirco helped us with our tickets and showed us where to go and we had time to wander into the city of our own accord and walk around. We liked this a lot because we felt free to take as many pictures as we wanted. And photos are definitely something you’ll want to take here. EVERY corner is so picturesque! On the way back to the port, we stopped at an old Roman aqueduct and once we got to town, Mirco brought us to a well known gelato shop, Chalet del Pincio. Mirco was a very safe driver. I felt like we were in good hands all day. His personality is so warm. One of my favorite tour guides yet. Mirco and My Love Italy will definitely be on our top recommendation list for our clients traveling through this area!

Terrible service
Tour guide never showed up and we were never told it was cancelled. When I called and my friend inquired why we were never picked up, they said it was cancel because of the weather. Viator does not want to give is a refund. Their loss. We will never do Viator again.
Response from the operator: We took all the other participants on the same tour that day — the tour was not cancelled. We would have taken you as well if you had shown up at the correct meeting point. I’m sorry you didn’t find the location and that your phone was unreachable when we tried to contact you. Your frustration is understandable, but in this case, it was not our fault.

Everything was good and our guide Mirko was great. Unfortunately we got a flat tire and trip was shortened
The flat tire wasn't able to be fixed by the driver for some reason and we had to wait for someone to come with the proper tools. Because of this our trip was shortened and we were delayed over an hour getting back.

A mixed experience tour, a true delight
Excellent in every way. We were picked up on time, the driver spoke very good English, he was informative, he drove carefully and the six people in the car were all very pleased with everything we did. We would certainly recommend it to anyone who wanted a cultural experience
