Bites & Booze in Bustling Buckman
My husband and I love a food tour and before moving to Portland, we were exploring different neighborhoods and restaurants in the city. We are so happy that we came across Portland By Mouth. We did their "Bustling Buckman Hood" tour and had such a great time. We ate, we drank, we laughed, we learned. Michael was our guide and could not have made it more enjoyable. He has such a knowledge of Portland and of food. We loved all of the places he took us to and now that we are residents of this city, we have returned to a handful--and can't wait to return to the others. It felt like we were hanging out with a good friend. We were sad that over 3 hours had passed and its was time to say goodbye. Do yourself a favor and book this tour. Just bring a big appetite and a desire to have fun:)

Make this your first stop!
My husband and I spent a wonderful few hours walking, eating and drinking with Sherri! Each stop we made was special. Sherri shared the history of the area and interesting information about each restaurant and its creator. It was a lovely introduction to the Buckman area and surrounding neighborhood! Only wish we had gone on the tour our first day in Portland and not our last! So many places to return to try!
Response from the operator: Oh, it was absolutely my pleasure to host you on the Buckman tour. You are both super foodies and have upbeat personalities. I really felt like I was out with friends for the afternoon!

Absolute Highlight of Our Trip to Portland – A Must-Do!
Our walking food tour with Portland by Mouth was easily the best experience we had during our trip. The curated stops perfectly balanced Portland’s iconic food cart culture with hidden sit-down gems. Every single bite—from the incredible Thai street food to the unique Russian flavors and the unbelievable sweet smash waffle —was absolutely phenomenal. We left completely stuffed and thoroughly impressed by the variety of flavors. Sherri was incredibly warm, witty, and deeply knowledgeable. Not only did she give us the inside scoop on the restaurants and owners behind each plate, but she also weaved in fascinating local history about the neighborhoods we walked through. They were also super accommodating with our group, ensuring everyone got a first-rate culinary experience.
Response from the operator: Well Marla, Knowing you are a food tour guide yourself, I really am blushing! I am delighted the food tour was a highlight of your stay (especially knowing you stayed at Cascada). It was great fun having you both along and sharing part of what makes Portland special.

Why this scores 69
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Portland.
How much does The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more cost?
+
Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Portland usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Portland is not rushed.
Is The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 37 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Portland, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Portland can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Portland and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does The Bustling Buckman Hood - Hawthorne, the Goat Blocks and more start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Portland within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Portland?
+
Portland's activity list is food cart and brewery crawls, Columbia River Gorge waterfall tours to Multnomah Falls, Mount Hood day trips and Willamette Valley pinot tastings. Gorge tours vary in how many falls they reach, so route detail is the deciding factor. On Outty we rank every Portland experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Guided Oregon Coast Tour from Portland, Multnomah Falls and Columbia River Gorge Half-Day Hiking Tour, Columbia Gorge Waterfalls and Mt. Hood Tour - Full Day. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Portland?
+
June to October for the Gorge, with waterfalls at their fullest in spring. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Portland?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
