    What you'll see and do

    1. Old Town

Get ready with us to live an experience across Swiss traditional flavours! During this walking food tour you will discover some hidden gems of Zurich cuisine, but also regional and national delicacies, with the help of our Local Expert. At the end of the tour, you will have eaten the equivalent of a full lunch! Please, bear in mind that the tastings here described may change according to the season and the availabilities of our partners.

      30 minutes here

    2. Niederdorf

We will start your culinary journey in Niederdorf, a lively neighbourhood of the Old Town, near the shore of Limmat river. Here, you will see where the locals go shopping, discover adorable artisanal boutiques full of various products, and of course enjoy some local cuisine! At lunch, we will start with a staple of Germanic cuisine: the iconic bretzel, a heart-shaped bread with a knot at its center, symbolizing union. You will try it plain or in a typical Zurich style - with some butter inside! At dinner, get inside one of these local boutiques and indulge in a sweet tasting of traditional honey-flavoured biscuits, called Tirggels, and discover their (festive) history! And after that, you can't miss a tasting of another Swiss product that doesn't need any presentation: Alpine cheese, in different shapes, flavours and textures!

      45 minutes here

    3. Bellevue Square

Literally meaning "Beautiful Sight" in French, Bellevue Square is one of the most important nodal points for Zurich transportation, where locals can enjoy a stunning view on thw lake or a show at the city Opera theatre, that's right near this square. During our morning tour, in this district you will live an authentic Zurich lunch break in a local grill restaurant. Have a seat and enjoy a delicious sausage - grilled right in front of your eyes - with fragrant bread and a refreshing beer.

      45 minutes here

    4. Grossmunster

Grossmünster is the ancient cathedral and one of the four major churches in town, the place where Protestant reformation started in Zurich and still nowadays you can admire its beautiful, Medieval Romanesque style. And right nearby, you will have a seat in a traditional restaurant, where you will try some local main dishes in a charming atmosphere. At lunch, discover Swiss cheese while eating a hot, creamy fondue with bread or a crispy potato Rösti with some melted cheese on top. At dinner, enjoy a typical Zurich dish: potato Rösti served with a creamy mushroom sauce and veal or with a delicious grilled sausage and an amazing onion gravy on top. Of course served with a glass of house beer!

      60 minutes here

    5. Banhofstrasse is probably one of the most iconic streets in town, also known as the Zurich Fifth Avenue, thanks to its luxury boutiques along its entire lenght. But you won't find only watches and jewels here! In fact, we will end on a sweet note with two unmissable delicacies: the renowned Swiss chocolate and a treat from an historical chocolate and pastry shop, whose name has been officially registered. Can you guess what will it be?

Walking Tasting Tour: Not for the “Just Enjoy” Type

I wanted to show up, taste things already prepared, and not think about anything. A simple, worry-free tasting experience. This tour isn’t that. You get a budget and venues, you choose what to order at each stop. The guide keeps later locations a surprise, so you can’t plan ahead. It means deciding, spending, calculating as you go. By the last venue, if you want something more substantial, you might not have enough left. Maybe I misunderstood the description—but other tasting tours I’ve done worked differently, so this felt like an outlier. If you like curated menus and want to just enjoy without choosing - skip this. You’ll be disappointed. If you like exploring independently and don’t mind managing a budget - you might enjoy it.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re very sorry that the experience did not match your expectations. We completely understand wanting a tasting experience where everything is already prepared and all you have to do is enjoy sometimes deciding what to order can feel like homework sneaking into dinner! 😊 Your comments are truly valuable, and we will take them on board to improve how we explain the experience beforehand so expectations are clearer. Thank you again for joining us and for sharing your perspective.

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Zurich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

How far in advance should I book Taste Zurich – A Full Food Tour of Swiss Flavors by Do Eat Better?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zurich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zurich and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Taste Zurich – A Full Food Tour of Swiss Flavors by Do Eat Better start and how do I get there?

    +

What are the best things to do in Zurich?

    +

On Outty we rank every Zurich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Zurich Food Tour with 10 Local Delicacies, Cheeses & Chocolates, Private, excellent guided tour of Zurich (from CHF 21/pers.), Zürich Historic District Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Zurich?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Zurich?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
