What you get

    About this experience

Snæfellsnes is Iceland's best-kept secret. The glacier that inspired Jules Verne, wild seals on the rocks, a lone black church in an open field, a perfect sea arch, a shipwreck beach, volcanic craters, and Kirkjufell - all without the crowds of the South Coast or Golden Circle. Kirkjufell - Iceland's most photographed mountain. The arrowhead peak above the northern fjord, with the waterfall alongside. Seeing it in person stops you in your tracks. This is the last stop of the day, and it earns that position. Wild harbour seals at Ytri Tunga. One of the only reliable seal-watching spots in Iceland, no boat required. Just rocks, seals, and the Atlantic. Entirely private - no shared passengers. Your guide and vehicle belong to your group alone for the full day. Family-friendly throughout. Saxhóll Crater has a staircase to the rim - a favourite for children. Children of all ages welcome. Private sedan for 1-3 or private minivan for 4-8. Right-sized vehicle, exclusively yours.

    Amazing tour of Western Iceland

We took this tour as an American family of 8, including 3 young teenagers. We thoroughly enjoyed the private tour and were amazed by the natural wonders we saw during our 12- hour day on the West Coast. From when we began planning, Matt at Varen provided exceptional customer service. He helped me to navigate planning this trip from timetables to payment - which I have found to be sometimes challenging to do in Iceland as a foreigner. Our guide, Srdan, was knowledgeable, friendly, and considerate. We had an elderly person in our group and he kindly assisted with advising limitations for her so that she could safely enjoy the trip. It was a long day and we packed in so many things, but Srdan never made us feel rushed as some tour operators do. The scenery was breathtaking! I would recommend Srdan and Varen to anyone who wants to have an intimate experience traveling through the extraordinarily beautiful Western Iceland.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a beautiful and thoughtful review! It was an absolute pleasure helping you navigate the planning and logistics from the very beginning, we know how challenging that can sometimes be from abroad, so I’m thrilled I could make it smooth and stress-free for your family. I've already shared your kind words with Srdan, and he was incredibly happy to hear that his guidance kept everyone from the teenagers to your elderly family member, safe, comfortable, and completely relaxed throughout that long, beautiful day on the West Coast. We truly believe that a private tour should always feel like an intimate, unhurried experience. Thank you for highly recommending us and for choosing Varen to experience the magic of Western Iceland. We would absolutely love to welcome your wonderful family back for another adventure someday!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the wonderful review. I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed the private tour and that the bespoke itinerary and flexibility made the experience smooth and personal. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I truly appreciate your kind words about the value as well. Hope to welcome you back in Iceland for another adventure.

Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders cost?

    +

Prices start at $1646 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Snaefellsnes Private Tour At Iceland’s West Coast of Wonders start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
