What you get

    About this experience

Silfra fissure exists due to the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates separating around 2 centimeters a year – leaving a rift in the landscape between them. This rift is filled with glacial water from Langjökull glacier that has been filtered through lava fields for decades before reaching Silfra – making the water exceptionally clear and drinkable. Special effects, including wind, mist and scents, combine with the ride’s motion to create an unforgettable experience. Before your flight begins, you’ll be immersed in the magic of Iceland in pre-ride events. Our flight guides, a storyteller and resident troll Sú Vitra will lead you through two unique adventures that’ll ignite your imagination with stories of Iceland, its people and the natural forces at work.

One of the most amazing experiences ever!

One of the most amazing experiences my wife and I ever had. It starts with a short summary of the history of Iceland and is followed by a few minutes - too few, unfortunately...- of an exhilerating and very realistic magic carpet ride through the main natural atractions of beautiful Iceland. Highly recommended as the first show for anybody who is visiting Iceland for the first time, as it gives many clues to what natural beauties to visit during your stay

    A quick but enjoyable experience.

The only part really worth the money was the "flying" experience, which only lasts about 7 minutes. It is pretty amazing, but short.

Response from the operator: Dear Gerard, Thank you for your feedback. Please note that the Fly Over experience is operated by our partners at Flyover Iceland. We would have loved to hear your thoughts of the Silfra snorkeling, the part of your tour that we do operate. Kind regards, The Adventure Vikings team

    very good but not excellent

This disney style ride presents the amazing views of Iceland. On my opinion the movements are too sharp and caused me some dizziness.

Response from the operator: Thank you for leaving our partners at Fly Over Iceland a review. We however do not operate that portion of the tour. We would have loved to read a bit about your experience with the Silfra snorkeling, the portion of the tour which we do operate. We hope that you had a great time in Silfra and enjoyed all its beauty. Kind regards, The Adventure Vikings team

ok to get an overview of Iceland

it is just like the soaring California game in disneyland. it is fun, but too short for the amount of money that it costs. You do get to see panoramic views of beautiful iceland. We missed not been given a view of the northern lights in the film.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your honest review. We are glad hear you thought the Fly Over Iceland Virtual experience with our partners at Fly Over Iceland was fun. We however only operate the Silfra snorkeling portion of the combo tour and would have to loved to hear your opinion on that part. We sure hope you enjoyed snorkeling in Silfra. Kind regards, The Adventure Vikings team

Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive cost?

    +

Prices start at $179 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive take?

    +

Plan for about 7.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 30 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive?

    +

Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 7.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Snorkeling in Silfra & Fly Over Iceland Virtual Experience - Self-drive start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
