    Fantastic!

I really loved this tour & couldn't get enough of ice climbing! The two Italian guides, Francisco & Daniel, were brilliant: very experienced, friendly, and they approached each of us & every activity with care & compassion. I felt seen, safe & entertained. What more would anyone wish for on a tour? The guides were also clearly incredibly passionate about glaciers which made the experience that much better for the participants as well! Definitely highly recommended for anyone curious about glacier exploration . I would also like to thank our driver-guide Greta. We all got completely soaked to the bone at the end of the tour & she took care of us, even offering me her own jacket to keep warm while my own was drying (along with my trousers!) what a wonderfully caring & warm person she is!

Response from the operator: Hi Paulina, a driver offering her own jacket to a soaked guest is the kind of thing you can't put in a training manual. That's just someone who cares. Glad the ice climbing got you hooked. Arctic Adventures Team

Incredible experience as a solo female

I had the most amazing first ice climbing experience. Daniel and Lucas were incredible guides. They were knowledgeable, encouraging, patient, and just genuinely wonderful people to spend the day with. I came out as a solo female, and I don’t think they even realize the role they’re playing in helping people rewire their brains and what they believe they’re capable of. There’s something really powerful about showing up alone to do something completely new and a little intimidating, and having guides who make you feel safe, capable, and completely comfortable being there. I left feeling so proud of myself and incredibly grateful for the experience. It was so much more than just getting to try ice climbing for the first time. I also used the shuttle option, and the driver was wonderful. I felt very safe the entire time. Cannot recommend this experience, Daniel, and Lucas enough. Truly one the highlight of my trip.

Would recommend if you’re able bodied

Daniel was awesome, very fun, a little wet and chilly but is to be expected

    Do it!

We had a great time! The ice climbing was a really fun experience, and we were blessed with sunny weather. I never felt unsafe. I was grateful that this company picked us up from reykjavik, even if it made for a long day. Our driver even dropped us off at our hotel 15 minutes outside reykjavik and we super appreciated that! Only thing I would say is plan to get your own food and snacks. Its a very long day. But worth it!

Response from the operator: Hi Stephanie, ice climbing in the sunshine is a lucky draw. The food tip is a genuinely useful one for anyone reading — it is a long day and packing snacks makes a real difference. Glad the hotel drop-off was a nice touch. Arctic Adventures Team

Daniel - The Best Guide (From Eric Kong, Helen Yeung, Audrey Kong, Hanford Kong (Kong’s Family) and Dabbie Yeung)

Daniel is the best guide / coach I have ever met. He guided us through the whole ice climbing experience carefully, and teach us all the essential techniques, knowledge and skills on the whole exploring. He also gave us very tender care and emotional support which is utmost important for us to break through and be our best. He is thus the best. Salute to him and I will recommend this first-class guide / coach to all my friends and any others. ❤️❤️

Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group cost?

    +

Prices start at $215 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group take?

    +

Plan for about 5.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 182 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group?

    +

Around 64 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 5.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike & Ice Climbing Intro - Small Group start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
