Cascais is a Portuguese village in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area subregion, belonging to the region with the same name and the district of Lisbon, with 64,310 inhabitants. Its origins as an independent entity date from the Carta da Vila, of June 7, 1364, in which King D. Pedro I of Portugal separated it from the term of Sintra, due to its economic development. Administratively, it only became independent in 1514. Occupied since the Paleolithic period, and with an important archaeological heritage, the municipality was focused on agricultural production, fishing and resource extraction from an early age. Its strategic position in Barra do Tejo also contributed to its importance, today boasting a vast military architectural heritage. Due to its natural and scenic values, both the town and the municipality experienced a surge in popularity that saw it become the preferred destination for Portuguese and foreign elites from the 19th century onwards.

Pena Palace is a stunning castle

Johnny met us at the designated meeting point on time. We just loved the small group setting. Our group was driven around in a spiffed up Mercedes mini van equipped with bottled water, wifi and great temp controls to heat and cool down the van as you desired. We started at the Pena Palace first and it did not disappoint. Just stunning views all over the place. i took my friend's advice and opted out of seeing the inside of the tower. The great views are all outside of the palace and there really is no need to go inside. Johnny then took us to Sintra downtown. Such a cute shopping district with that old European charm. He gave us great freedom on how long we wanted to stay at each site. It was our van and he let us know we could change the times at each sight if we wanted--great flexibility. Right before lunch, he took us to Cabo de Roca, the most westernmost point in Europe. We had a super seafood lunch (all fresh catches). Then capped off the day in Cascais. Recommend this tour highly. Pena itself is worth the trip.

Great Memories

We had an Amazing Unforgettable Trip to Sintra. Our Guide Mr. John Ali was a professional and pleasant man. Told us all about the History of the city. Suggested great food to eat. Was friendly and very attentive about us both. Dropped us off to Time Out Market in our request. Overall a Great Memorable Experience. Thank you John.

Beautiful day in Portugal!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! John (Joao) was not only a pleasure to have as a driver but very knowledgeable! He talked to us about the history of Lisbon, the history of Cascais and Sintra! The trip was a small group that ended up being just us, and we LOVED IT! I was traveling with my mom and my 16 year old son, and he was super interested in everything John had to say. We absolutely recommend this tour. Both Cascais and Sintra are must see towns!

Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais cost?

+

Prices start at $79 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Small-Group Tour to Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca & Cascais start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

+

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
