Worth it despite the torrential rain.
The guide made the day Leonardo was entering, informative and helpful could not ask for better. The torrential rain did not stop all morning but it was still a good trip the castles and gardens are worth the hike.

Do not miss seeing Sintra!!
I was a little hesitant booking a guided tour as I like to explore around but we were jet lagged and wanted to hit the morning running and I’m so thankful we did. There’s a story behind everything at the Regaliera which I had NO clue to and we got to experience the traditional ways through here with interesting facts behind it. The small group tours are the way to go, there’s no finding your tour guide holding the flag walking around with 30 people. It was 6 of us total and it felt much more personal. Our guide was lovely, and navigated some pretty narrow winding roads. He knew all the spots for the pictures and took them of our family as well. Sintra is such a quaint little town with streets filled of history, beauty and kind hearted people.
