Fabulosa!!

We had a fabulous day with Ricardo as our guide. His wealth of historical information & present day knowledge was greatly appreciated. We loved the fact that he truly loves his country. He made sure our day was filled with interesting sights, great food & some fun stories relating to the greater Sintra area.

Response from the operator: Hello hello! Thank YOU for the fabulous review. So happy that Ricardo's love and professionalism shined through, and we were able to provide you with this unforgettable experience! Please come back soon.

Completely disorganized

I want to preface this review by saying that this our first trip to Portugal and we have fallen in love with the country and the people. We're from New York City and I completely understand why so many people have moved here. Despite the unbelievable incompetence of the tour company, we actually enjoyed ourselves - it's hard not to in Portugal. Now, for the review: We chose this tour company because it was recommended to us by a friend, who is a friend of the owner, Antonio Stilwell. About 3 months prior to our trip (we arrived May 31, 2026), we had a zoom call with Antonio. We agreed we would do the day tour from Lisbon to Caiscais and Sintra. We did not decide on exact destinations, but we roughly discussed seeing a megalith, a palace and the Convento dos Capuchos (I knew I wanted to see that monastery from the beginning). As our travel date drew closer, he had not responded to any emails. About a month prior to our date, I got his WhatsApp number from my friend and texted him. It seems he had been getting my emails but had not responded (which is weird). We agreed on a second zoom. During that zoom, we established that, in addition to the monastery, we would see the Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra (and walk a bit around the town of Sintra), the megalith our friend recommended, and have lunch by the sea. He told me we would need timed tickets to the Quinta da Regaleira but nothing else was timed. We agreed that he would buy us a ticket for that place and he suggested 1 pm to work with timing. About a week prior to arrival, I asked if, on the way, we could also see the museum of Paula Rego in Caiscais and he said no problem. I asked several times for him to send me an email with confirmations. I received no email. However, 2 nights prior to the tour, he sent me a link for payment and asked me to pay prior to the tour. The cost was 420 Euros. We were picked up at our hotel at 9 am, and as we began driving, we began to realize that our driver didn't have many details of our day. He didn't know what time we were going to the Quinta. I said - isn't that an important detail because we need timed tickets? No problem. He said he would call Antonio. It also became clear that we didn't have a reservation at the restaurant that Antonio had recommended. Our first stop was the Paula Rego museum in Caiscais. It was closed. They hadn't checked to see that the museum is closed on Mondays (which is common in Portugal, but we didn't know that). We had wanted to see the museum because of the architect, Eduardo do Souto (Pritzker winner), so that was disappointing. Then we drove to the megalith. By the time we got there, it was raining and windy and quite cold. It had been very hot in Lisbon and we were unprepared for the weather - luckily, at the last minute, we had brought jackets. The monastery was amazing (highly recommend it). But they hadn't made a reservation at the restaurant or at the palace (Quinta da Regaleira). They were able to get us a last minute table there, and instead of the Quinta, we went to see another palace called Biester which was very beautiful and completely uncrowded. So, we had a great day, but the tour company didn't do what you would expect them to do. Completely unorganized - we didn't get to see the museum or the palace that we requested. They covered our meal at the restaurant (and it was a very nice meal with fresh lobster) - we were really looking forward to seeing the places we'd picked. I still have not spoken on the phone with the owner the owner (I called him twice, he called me once) - I am just curious to understand how he could have left us hanging like that, especially since we have a good friend in common. It's a mystery. Maybe if you're booking a tuktuk tour in Lisbon they're ok, but don't book anything outside of Lisbon.

Sintra Day Trii

We spent the day with Ricardo visiting Sintra, the western point of Europe and Cascais. He was extremely knowledgeable and felt like an old friend hanging for the day. He took us to several stops in Sintra I. Sintra including the Queluz National Palace , Biester Palace and Pena Palace. Three different styles and all well described by Ricardo. We had a great day!

Response from the operator: So happy to read that you had a great day with Ricardo! He is definitely one of our best. And love that you got to visit the less crowded but equally spectacular Queluz National Palace. What a dream!

Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon cost?

+

Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 8-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Sintra Cascais & Cabo da Roca Private Day Trip from Lisbon start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

+

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
