Beautiful interior
Long line however went fairly quickly. It is a very beautiful bookstore, certainly now a commercial enterprise, not a bookstore you could just wander into. I bought 3 books and some small gifts for family and friends.

We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beautiful interior of Livraria Lello and that, despite the long line, the entry process moved fairly quickly. It’s wonderful to know that you also found some special books and gifts to take home for your family and friends. We hope that, despite the crowds, you had a memorable visit and enjoyed discovering this unique place. Thank you again for choosing to visit Livraria Lello with us and for sharing your feedback. Lovely but not worth $84 Euro
There was no tour of the bookstore - you walk around like you would any other bookstore. Not worth $84 Euro for two.
Response from the operator: Dear Dana, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found Livraria Lello lovely, although we’re sorry to know that the experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that this experience is designed as a self-guided visit, meaning that there is no guide accompanying guests inside the bookstore. The experience includes admission to Livraria Lello along with our self-guided tour materials, allowing visitors to explore the bookstore at their own pace. We’re sorry if this was not clear when you made your booking, and we truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us make the experience and its description clearer for future travelers. Thank you again for choosing to visit Livraria Lello with us. Warm regards, Luka Destinations

Worth a Visit
Well organized and the staff is helpful and kind. Follow their instructions for the best experience. This is a beautiful and unique bookstore, as photos and descriptions have told you. I cannot shop for a book in a crowd, so I chose not to buy anything. It was worth it just to wander about and to get a look at the wonderful staircase. I wish it was a relaxed space and not such a tourist destination, though I totally understand why it is a tourist “must see.” On that note, timed admission tickets are a brilliant way to make a visit manageable and hopefully beneficial to the bookstore. Again, I cannot say enough about the helpful and welcoming staff. Claudia was especially wonderful. She helped me learn how to pronounce the name of the bookstore and that added to the charm and the fun of the experience. She also suggested where to find a restroom, as the bookstore did not have one available that day.
Response from the operator: Dear Cindi_P, Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback about your experience at Livraria Lello. We’re glad to hear that you appreciated the beauty and uniqueness of the bookstore, as well as the organization and helpfulness of the staff. We’re especially happy to know that Claudia made your visit more welcoming and enjoyable. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with her. We also appreciate your comments about the crowds and timed admission. As one of Porto’s most visited landmarks, Livraria Lello can become quite busy, particularly during peak periods. The timed entry system is designed to help manage visitor flow and make the experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible while preserving the character of this special place. Thank you again for sharing your experience and for highlighting the small details that made your visit memorable. We sincerely hope to welcome you again on a future visit to Porto. Warm regards, Luka Destinations

The Tourist Trap never to be seen again
The long lines made us think we were in for something special. Well what a disappointment. The lines were very long and turned out to be just a gift store
Response from the operator: Dear Ira, Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your visit to Livraria Lello did not meet your expectations. We understand that the long queues can be frustrating, particularly when the experience itself turns out to be different from what you anticipated. Livraria Lello is a historic bookstore with a strong focus on its architecture, atmosphere, and book collection, but we recognize that its appeal is not the same for every visitor. We respect your opinion and are sorry that you felt the experience was more like a gift shop than the unique bookstore you were expecting. We also appreciate your comments regarding the waiting time. High demand can lead to significant queues, and we understand how this can negatively affect the overall experience. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. We hope you were able to enjoy other experiences during your time in Porto. Warm regards, Luka Destinations

Why this scores 41
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore cost?
+
Prices start at $21 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore take?
+
Plan for about 0.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 41 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 27 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore?
+
Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 0.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Self-guided tour with included entrance at Lello Bookstore start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
