What you get
About this experience
The Hāna Highway is a 64.4-mile long stretch of spectacular views of rainforest, waterfalls, beaches and coastline. On the east after Kalepa Bridge, the highway continues to Kīpahulu on the Piilani Highway. Although Hāna is only about 52 miles from Kahului, it takes about 2.5 hours to drive when no stops are made as the highway is very winding and narrow and passes over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one lane wide. There are approximately 620 curves along Route 360 from just east of Kahului to Hāna, virtually all of it through lush, tropical rainforest. Many of the concrete and steel bridges date back to 1910 and all but one are still in use. This full-day trip to the Hana coast has the best scenic drive along the shorelines of Maui.

Exceptional day of exploring
Our guide (John) was very knowledgeable, friendly, and sometimes even funny. So blessed with our guide, drove well and was very open to suggestions, great story teller definitely has a passion for his job. Love the tour, not only do you get to experience more of the island than the small area of the resort, you get to hear history, see awesome views, see wildlife, and beautiful flowers/trees/vegetation along the way to the state park of Waianapanapa to swim on the black sand/smooth rock Beach. Highly recommend water shoes so even if you don’t swim you can at least wade a bit. Lunch was very good, had the six inch ham sub with water, chips were available but did not eat. Highly recommend this tour

Princess Hana
You will fit into one of these categories a secular or spiritual/religious person. If you think 🤔 outside the 📦 box. The road to Hana will be like a coin in your hand. Our Ambassador/Apostle. Showed us a couple of coins and asked us to choose one. The coins ranged from highest to lowest in value. We were asked to choose a coin that would reflect which categories we fitted into. Keeping in mind outside the box thinking. No coin existed that would give me an easy path. If there was a 1/2 dollar coin then I would have chosen it. It would symbolize that I live in both worlds. And in both time zones at the same time. Then the Ambassador/Apostle John asked the simple question. How many sides does a coin has. It was an obvious question. So obvious that we all got it wrong. If you believe that I am lying. For those of us who are spiritual. You know one of Jesus's disciples name was John. His secular name is Calle. He has the answers to his name that is outside the box. And how 🤔 many sides to a coin. And the names of the only two time zone. So please Pricess Hana had chosen her 🤴 👑 king to represent her. All of this will determine your trip to Maui. It can in two categories or an experience that is completely outside the box. This answer John gave me to share. My was in a state of awe. The only other two experiences are 1. Magical 2. Miracleaous. If you give the answer to AI. You just destroyed If for other pioneers. Thank you John for catering to my entire being. My family was satisfied.

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kihei.
How much does Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls cost?
+
Prices start at $210 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kihei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kihei is not rushed.
Is Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 861 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Kihei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls?
+
Around 301 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kihei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kihei and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Road to Hana: Full-Day Scenic Drive with Blacksand & Waterfalls start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kihei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kihei?
+
Kihei, HI packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Kihei by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Kihei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Road to Hana Adventure Maui Tour with Lunch, Maui: Haleakala Sunrise Spectacular with Local Breakfast, Maui: Famous Road to Hana Waterfalls and Lunch by Mercedes Van. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kihei?
+
Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Kihei, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kihei?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
