    Think twice

    1. Driver was late for pick up with no communication. 2. Driver ran out of gas in the middle of the tour and left us for 30 minutes. 3. We had to wait for him to get fuel. Upon returning, the scent of fuel was everywhere in the vehicle which made my children nauseous. 4. Driver continually rambled from start to finish that wasn’t relevant to the trip, over speaking guests. 5. Driver made disparaging political and religious comments. 6. Our family of 7 was crammed in a small mini van. 7. We paid for a full day and only did half a day. Overall, the trip was an absolute headache and while we were happy to do the things we asked, we couldn’t wait for it to be over due to being so uncomfortable mentally and physically.

Response from the operator: Aloha Jessica, Mahalo for taking the time to share your feedback. We're disappointed to read your review, as it does not reflect the documented communication leading up to your tour. Months before your tour, you reached out with concerns about spending a full day in the vehicle with your family and asked if we could customize the experience without driving all the way to Hana. The day before your tour, we followed up once more to confirm whether you preferred a halfway itinerary or the full Road to Hana experience, and we planned your day according to the customized option you selected. The concerns raised during the refund request were different from what is shared in this review. Those concerns, along with our complete message history, were reviewed through Viator's resolution process, and Viator determined that a refund was not warranted. We were also surprised to read the comments regarding fuel stops and your guide, as they do not reflect the experience we strive to provide or the information available to us from that day. Our goal has always been to create a personalized experience based on each guest's preferences, and we believe that's exactly what was provided. We wish you and your family all the best. Road to Hana

Derrick was amazing! He made the whole experience so much fun. We had our own rental car while staying in Maui but decided to hire a driver for the Road to Hana. I wanted my husband to be able to enjoy the scenery as much as the rest of us and not worry about the drive. It was money well spent! Derrick was very knowledgeable about the history of the island. He told us several stories, myths, and legends. We traveled with a 14 and 12 year old who enjoyed the trip as well. Thank you Derrick for making the day so memorable!!

Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kihei.

How much does Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide cost?

    +

Prices start at $999 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kihei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kihei is not rushed.

Is Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kihei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kihei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kihei and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Road to Hana Full Day Tour with A Guide start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kihei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kihei?

    +

Kihei, HI packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Kihei by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Kihei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Maui: Haleakala Sunrise Spectacular with Local Breakfast, Maui: Famous Road to Hana Waterfalls and Lunch by Mercedes Van, Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kihei?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Kihei, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kihei?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
