Why drive when you can ride!

Best way to see the other side of the island!!! So glad my husband didn’t have to drive that road and was able to relax and enjoy the scenery. Each stop we made was spectacular. Sea turtles, waterfalls, black sand beaches (we went swimming) and more! It’s a long day but well worth it. Our guide Junior was great, very knowledgeable, funny, helpful and wants you to have a good time.

    Road to Hana tour

The tour was good and we saw a lot of what we wanted to see. Waterfalls, lava rock and black sand beach, turtles, etc! We got to pull off and try some Huli Huli chicken which was a highlight! The driver though definitely had an agenda in what he talked about for 7 hours. You could tell he is bitter about Hawaii becoming a state and how the history of all that went down. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I don’t think using a tour is the way to do it.

My wife and I went on this Full day tour 2 days ago. I found the Vehicle to be very uncomfortable. I'm 6'-1" and dont fit in the seats, my knee was jammed into the seat in front of me the whole time. The guide arrived about 20 mins late for pick up also. The trip was suppose to conclude at 3:30. We arrived at our hotel after 5:30 which made the uncomfortable seat almost unbearable. The Guide did not seem to have a lot of knowledge to share and the photo ops were few and far between. The lunch that was provided was very substandard. When asked about lunch one of the guest said "the cookie was good" meaning it was the only thing that was good. I found it to be extremely dry. I would not recommend this tour. It was an expensive Uber to the black sand beach, which was the only high light of the tour.

Response from the operator: Aloha, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that several aspects of your tour did not meet your expectations. We understand how uncomfortable a full-day tour can become when the seating does not provide enough legroom, especially for a taller guest. We also apologize that your pickup was later than scheduled. Regarding the return time, our Road to Hāna tours are full-day experiences, and return times can vary depending on traffic, road conditions, weather, the amount of time guests spend at each stop, and other conditions along the route. However, we understand that a significantly later return can affect evening plans, and your feedback regarding how we communicate estimated return times is something we take seriously. We’re also disappointed to hear that you felt the commentary, sightseeing opportunities, and lunch did not provide the experience you expected. Our goal is for the journey itself—not only Waiʻānapanapa and Black Sand Beach—to be a meaningful part of the tour. Your comments regarding the vehicle comfort, timing, guide experience, photo opportunities, and lunch have been shared with our team for review. Constructive feedback helps us identify where adjustments may be needed. Mahalo for giving us the opportunity to hear your concerns.

    10/10 views and experience!

We had a lovely time on this tour! Our tour guide Cory was kind, funny, and knowledgeable. We learned so much about Hawaiian history while seeing such beautiful views. Highly recommend doing a tour of the road to Hana, rather than driving it yourself - it really allows you to soak up every moment stress-free. Thank you so much Cory!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your great review! Corey brings the perfect combination of local knowledge, humor, and genuine aloha to the Road to Hāna. Our guests appreciate having someone who can turn the drive into an experience by sharing personal stories, history, and insight along the way while they sit back and enjoy Maui’s incredible scenery. If you’re considering the Road to Hāna, let Hāna and Beyond take care of the driving while Corey and our team help make your day one to remember.

Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kihei.

How much does Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond cost?

    +

Prices start at $210 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kihei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kihei is not rushed.

Is Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 908 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Kihei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Rainforest Tour to Hana and Beyond?

    +

Around 318 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kihei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kihei and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kihei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

    +

Kihei, HI packs its best experiences into walkable neighborhoods, local food, and day trips nearby. Outty ranks every bookable tour and activity in Kihei by rating quality, review depth, booking demand and value, so you can see the standouts before you book. On Outty we rank every Kihei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Road to Hana Adventure Maui Tour with Lunch, Road to Hana Tour with Lunch and Pickup, Small-Group Road to Hana Luxury Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kihei?

    +

Spring and fall bring the best weather and lighter crowds in Kihei, while summer has the widest choice of tours and evening activities. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kihei?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
