What you'll see and do

  1. Canterbury Cathedral

Step inside 1500 years of history to the sight of the very first cathedral in England. Here your guide will explain the story of how a dispute between a King and an Archbishop ended in chaos and the assassination of Thomas Becket in AD 1170.

  2. The White Cliffs of Dover

What could be more of a symbol of British identity than the White Cliffs of Dover?! Once romanticised through the words of Vera Lynn, The White Cliffs of Dover served as a message of hope and strength through some of the darkest hours of World War II. This is why we take you to the Battle of Britain Memorial, where you will not only be able to admire the cliffs but pay your respect to 'The Few' that fought to defend the country against the German Airforce.

    30 minutes here

  3. Leeds Castle

Lord Conway once described this magnificent Castle as 'The Lovliest Castle in the world' and it doesn't take much imagination to see why. Leeds has been the home of numerous Queens of England, as well as the home of an American Heiress Lady Baillie in the 1900's. Her Art Deco style still remains inside much of the castle today, as well as Henry VIII's large refurbishment for his first wife Catherine of Aragon

Fantastic Private Tours with a Superb Tour Guide (Christian)

We had a fantastic and flawless experience working with Tailored Tours in booking three private tours. The owner was super prompt in communication and all follow-ups. He gave us valuable feedback in tailoring our tour itineraries. Christian was our tour guide for Canterbury, Leeds Castle, White Cliff of Dover, and the 'new' Jane Austen tour. We had an absolutely wonderful time with Christian as he shared his deep knowledge of the background and the historic landmarks. Christian's style was not to recite the historical facts all day long. Instead, Christian put a personal touch in leading the tours so we felt very comfortable. He was very pleasant, enjoyable, humorous, and highly entertaining all day long. He was also very accommodating with our preferring a 'grab and go lunch' (versus sit down at a restaurant) in order to maximize the time for sightseeing and picture taking. Each site had its unique beauty and history. We learned a lot from Christian. After three private tours, we truly highly recommend Tailored Tours and Christian as your tour guide. We want you to have a great memorable time like we did!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a thoughtful and detailed review! It was an absolute pleasure helping you plan your tours, and we’re delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your days out with Christian. He really does have a gift for bringing history to life in a relaxed and engaging way. We’re so glad the itineraries worked well for you — and we’d love to welcome you back for more adventures in the future!

A wonderful tour with Christian!

Our family of six, including my 70+ year-old in-laws and our two young sons, had a fantastic day with Christian touring the White Cliffs of Dover, Canterbury, and Leeds Castle. He was on time, kind, and exceptionally skilled at balancing the needs of both older adults and energetic kids. Christian kept the pace comfortable without losing momentum, shared engaging history in a way everyone could enjoy, and anticipated our needs throughout the day. His mix of professionalism, knowledge, and genuine warmth made the experience stress-free and memorable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. The sites themselves were stunning and full of character. Leeds Castle was a highlight, with its beautiful grounds and a fun hedge maze that our boys loved exploring. Canterbury’s history and charm, along with the breathtaking views from the White Cliffs of Dover, helped to make our day one we will remember for years to come. If you are looking for someone who can deliver an unforgettable, perfectly paced, and genuinely enjoyable experience for travelers of all ages, I cannot recommend Christian highly enough.

Incredible Trip That Packs a lot into One day

Everything we saw was incredible. The history, the architecture, the countryside. Our guide explained many historical details in a very lively manner keeping my teenagers entertained during the day trip.

Response from the operator: Thanks for the great review! We're so glad you enjoyed the sights—and even more impressed we managed to keep the teens entertained! That’s always a win. Hope to see you again for another adventure soon :)

Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.

How much does Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover cost?

+

Prices start at $1000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover take?

+

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.

Is Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 42 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover?

+

Around 15 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour to Canterbury, Leeds Castle and The White Cliffs of Dover start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in London?

+

London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit London?

+

May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in London?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
