About this experience

If you like the idea of taking a private pub tour with a fun friend who can also recommend the best drinks to have then this is the one. Delightful beer tour of historic London pubs

This was one of the best food and drink tours we’ve ever experienced. Strolling through old London to historic pubs while diving into beer culture and English history made for a perfect afternoon. Jane was not only fun and engaging but also exceptionally knowledgeable, and she tailored the tour beautifully to our interests.

Response from the operator: Hello Brian Thank you so much for your lovely review. I had a wonderful time with you and Naomi on our pub tour. Cheers! Jane

The perfect gift

The perfect present – and an unexpected one – for my husband, who adores old pubs, beer and history: a beer, wine and cider sommelier-curated pub crawl of London’s historic boozers for him and three friends. What’s not to like? I chose this private tour not just for the enticing itinerary and clear expertise in the subject, but also for the genuinely friendly emails leading up to it. I knew we were in for a good day. From the moment we began, Jane’s warmth and knowledge of London’s boozy past gave the whole experience a personal, welcoming feel. We wandered through the historic lanes of Fleet Street, Holborn, Blackfriars and connecting ginnels, immersed in fascinating stories and lore. We visited pubs that felt like secret time capsules – one of them could easily have been a stopping-off point for Harry Potter and his Diagon Alley pals. I doubt we’d ever have found them without Jane. What elevated the tour was her drink knowledge: thoughtfully chosen brews that matched our palates perfectly, and tales that made each glass taste even better. Conversation was as varied as the selection itself – who knew the apple of original sin was most likely a pomegranate or a fig? It felt more like spending a relaxed afternoon with a knowledgeable friend than just a tour. The right balance of historical insight, tasting experience, and personable storytelling made it an unforgettable gift that all of us thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Hello Sarah Thank you SO much for this amazing review and thank you for taking the time to write it. I loved every second of our afternoon together. You, Stu, Claud and Richard are the best company! Jane x

The Ultimate Highlight of our Trip!

Without a doubt, the ultimate highlight of our London escapades (and trust me, we toured like pros)! Jane was a superstar (we instantly adored her), with incredible knowledge of beer, pubs, and history, turning our experience into something unforgettable. Jane’s tour far exceeded our expectations. She took us to charming, tucked-away pubs we’d never have stumbled upon on our own. Engaging, delightful, and downright hilarious, Jane had our college-aged kids absolutely smitten. Huge cheers to Jane for crafting an extraordinary family memory. Whether it’s your London debut or you’re hunting for a unique experience, this tour is a guaranteed winner!

Response from the operator: Oh Ashley, what an incredible review! I'm blushing although it's hard to tell with my rosy cheeks. Thank you for your amazing words. I'm so pleased you all enjoyed the tour. As you know I had a blast too and want to be adopted by your lovely family. Jane xx

Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.

How much does Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs cost?

+

Prices start at $132 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs take?

+

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.

Is Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 55 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 18. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs?

+

Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour of London's Historic Pubs start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in London?

+

London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit London?

+

May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in London?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
