    About this experience

Enjoy your day tasting wine & famous port wine through the region. You have to come where the Port Wine is born and made! From the soil to the vine, the shale terraces to the solar exposition, grafting the vines to grape variety, "lagar" to the barrel, from the bottles to the table, from the taste in your tongue to your brain and to your soul. In Douro Valley you will visit amazing wine villages frozen in time where the port wine culture is dominant in the streets, in the houses, in the landscape and on the people, they will teach you the the difference from a Tawny to a Ruby, dry White port to a sweet White port, Late Bottle Vintage to a Vintage and also the famous Single Harvest port wines, do you think you can handle it !!! You will confer with Wine and Port Wine producers and they will share their knowledge with you through a glass of port wine, from this moment on, you will see wine from a different point of view, after a private taste of 15 Douro Valley Wines.

Ricardo is the guide for you

My wife and I wanted a private tour of the Douro wine region. We were so fortunate to find Ricardo as our guide and driver. He picked us up at the train station in Porto and took us to our Airbnb but not before a lunch stop at Gazela for the local hot dogs and beer. The next day we had an insider tour of the Douro Valley, tastings at boutique wineries and culminating in a private lunch in a beautiful home with breathtaking views of the Valley. We tasted 9 Douro Valley wines over about 3 hours and heard the backstory on them all. He even picked us up at 4am on Saturday to catch our flight to Paris. What service! Ricardo was born in Porto and lived in Prosvendre (wine village in the Douro) for 7 years. You will get the ultimate insider experience with Ricardo. Highly, highly recommended. He created a never-to-be-forgotten experience for us in Porto and the Douro Valley.

Response from the operator: WOW Tom thank you and thank Deborah very much 😃😃😃 You made it easy, like very good old friends, and in the end everything went fantastic 🍷🍷🍷 You are the best 🏆 Hope to see you next time, Ricardo

    Definitely Do Douro!

Ricardo is as just amazing. From early communications regarding our preferences to recommendations for our next city’s exploration, he was the best. Ricardo was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He shared much valuable historical information and was patient with questions. He was flexible with plans and really just so much fun to be with. He planned a wonderful adventure for us in the Douro Valley after our vacation plans had unexpectedly changed without hesitation. We toured Porto and had a wonderful lunch. We highly recommend him for any type of tour and cannot wait to tour with him again when we visit Portugal!

Response from the operator: Olá Michele & Stewart , thank you so much for your review 😃😃😃 Porto and Douro Valley are amazing and unique places, I am really happy I could help make your trip special, especially with the unexpected changes to your plans 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and great company made the tour amazing, funny and in a certain way super relaxing. Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.

How much does Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $280 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.

Is Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch?

    +

Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour in Douro Valley Wine Region & Traditional Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Porto?

    +

On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Porto?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Porto?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
