V&A - Victoria and Albert Museum
We start our tour in the lobby where we meet the founders of the museum, a magnificent bust shows Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Looking up towards the ceiling you can see the astonishing glass structure of the Chihuly Dale chandelier. As we walk through the museum you will notice it’s not just historical artefacts, indeed the collection is still growing, with modern pieces added regularly. This chandelier was arrived in 2001, hear how difficult it was to install. Next we head upstairs to explore the British galleries. Here we get a glimpse of life in England during the Tudor and Stuart periods. Make sure you stop at the Great Bed of Ware, guess how many people can squeeze in. 500 years may have passed since this period, but our ancestors obviously shared our taste for comfortable living.

Passing the wooden carvings of Royal Beasts, we arrive in an amazing room filled with Raphael Cartoons. Wander around, hear many stories and admire the cartoons, these very paintings were the pattern for tapestries commissioned by Pope Leo X for the Sistine Chapel. Time for some historical fashion, let’s explore the various styles of clothing from the 17th Century right through to 1960, in this, the worlds most comprehensive collection of dresses. From Europe we now make our way to Asia. Your guide will ensure you arrive to catch the Ardabil carpet when its fully lit so you can appreciate the intricate design. Next we find the life sized Tipu’s Tiger, an impressive wooden carving in its own right, this mechanical toy also houses a musical instrument. Heading back upstairs, the atmosphere of the museum changes slightly. Gone are the large spacious rooms and instead we find much smaller galleries packed with many different items, Silver Galleries, a Jewellery room and much more.

The Cast courts are yet another gem. There are two sections of the courts; first we can enjoy a view from above, before we walk amongst these amazing casts of famous structures of mainly Italian and Spanish origin. Listen and find out why there are so many and discover their purpose. Look inside the Trajan column and find the three Davids. Which one is the most famous one? We are now back in England, for a quick stop to learn a bit about the history of fire insurance following the great fore of London in 1666. We also have a chance to discover what homes in London looked like during the 17th century. We are reaching our final gallery to explore now, covering the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Here prepare to be amazed by the size of one of DaVinci’s notebooks. Admire the beautiful decoration on the Becket casket and learn about hunting culture whilst viewing the Bear hunt tapestry.

Victoria and Albert tour
Marina gave us a great introduction to the wonderful Victoria and Albert museum. She showed us a variety of items and carefully explained everything. A perfect visit. She is enthusiastic and easy to understand. It is such a big museum and we look forward to going back.
Response from the operator: Carol, thank you for this. The V&A can be overwhelming given its sheer size, Marina's skill is cutting through that and showing you the pieces that actually matter. Glad she gave you a proper foundation to build on when you go back. Thanks for choosing us. Mark Let me show you London

Most memorable for me were the decorative arts and furniture from the different centuries. I also loved seeing the scale of David and the fashion through all of the decades. Our private tour guide Lucy was engaging and knowledgeable with history and fun facts
Response from the operator: The V&A has a very intriguing selection of pieces. We're delighted that you enjoyed your time there with Lucy, many thanks for sharing your experience. Mark Let me show you London

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.
How much does Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum cost?
+
Prices start at $45 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.
Is Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 2-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour, Highlights of the Victoria&Albert Museum start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in London?
+
London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit London?
+
May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in London?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
