Lisbon day trip with history and beaches
Paolo was incredible! Very nice guy and excellent driver. He allowed us to deviate a bit from the planned itinerary without any issue at all. He also gave us information at the key points then allowed us time to explore for ourselves as well. Overall wonderful day trip from Lisbon!

Setúbal Península with a 4yr old
We had an amazing private day trip to explore the Setubal peninsula with our driver, Paulo, who was very courteous and knowledgeable. The Cristo Rei monument had fabulous views over Lisbon and the river. Castelo Palmelas had great views and even knights practicing their sword skills the Sunday morning we went. Paulo recommended and made a lunch reservation for us at a seafood restaurant by Setubal harbor that was truly incredible - we picked the fish from the ice case display and then they grilled it for us. The grilled cuttlefish and dorado were fresh, simply grilled and fantastic. The famous Moscatel de Setubal at the end of the meal was divine. Hearing how much we enjoyed pastries, he brought us to a cafe in Azeitao where we could try that village’s namesake torte (a sponge cake filled with soft egg yolk custard creme) and cinnamon cookies. Our 4yr old was a big fan. Then a wine tour at Baccalhoa Vineyard, which was ironically more of an art museum tour, but interesting nonetheless. The brief drive through the Arrabiada National Park offered lovely views outside of Setubal, and a quick stop at Sesimbra Castle before heading back to Lisbon. Having had lovely wines at lunch, we would next time elect to spend time at Sesimbra’s beach rather than the wine tour. It was a comfortable way to see this area for the first time in a snapshot, enough to know we want to come back and spend at least a couple of days.

Amazing views from so many different vantage points
Our guide Paulo was wonderful! He was very accommodating with our interests. As a result of reading the recommendations about the trip we asked for an alternative lunch restaurant and loved it! The views were spectacular. We walked a total of two miles to the various sites and it was spread over 8 hours. Perfect day!

One of the best private tours in Portugal!
We did this tour with our guide Paulo, and it was an absolutely fantastic day! I’ve never seen views this stunning in my life, and Paulo was so great at sharing the history and waiting for us to explore each stop. He took us to an incredible all you can eat lunch place that was a little pricey but so worth it (especially if you are travelling with all adults, we had teenagers with us and they didn’t really eat enough for it to be worthwhile for them, I thoroughly enjoyed it though! They walked around bringing all kinds of fish and seafood and everything tasted incredible! How they get the potatoes to taste so good, I have no idea!). All in all, I would HIGHLY recommend this tour. It is so much nicer than being in a huge group, you can take your time and really personalize the experience.

A beautiful day with a little bit of everything
We took a private tour with Paulo and it had everything we could ask for - old castles, history and beautiful vistas. We saw two different castles, a market, spent some time at a beach in Setubal (water is cold but refreshing), saw incredible views up Arrabida, and had a drink in the beautiful town of sesimbra overlooking the water. Paulo was perfect and made sure we saw all of it and was very accommodating of all of our requests, and provided us with lots of information about the areas we were in without being overwhelming. It was an absolutely perfect day - even our teenagers loved it. The only thing we would have changed was where we stopped for lunch. We went to a fixed price fish restaurant, and the food was good, but everyone has to get the all you can eat fish option and the service was slow and it took up a much longer part of our day than we wanted it to, and was a bit pricey. Everything else was perfect.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
“Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does “Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra cost?
+
Prices start at $87 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does “Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is “Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule “Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is “Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book “Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does “Private Tour – Cristo Rei, Palmela, Setúbal, Arrábida & Sesimbra start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
