Fantastic two days of sightseeing with Jessie!!

My colleague and I were on a 10 day business trip to Beijing and Shanghai and decided to spend the weekend on a private tour visiting sights outside Shanghai. Jessie was our guide for both days. Jessie did a great job introducing us to many fascinating sights including the water village (“Venice in China”), a new Chinese cultural centre and museum, an amazingly large university complex and a spectacular hotel in a former mining site!! Plus much more including a visit to a silk factory that was very educational and interesting! What really made the 2 day trip was Jessie’s insights into these places and also explaining the history and culture of China in a way that was really interesting and engaging. Next trip we will definitely meet up again with Jessie for another tour - so much to see around Shanghai!

Enjoyable & Educational Tour with Jessie. The BEST!

Suzhou & Zhouzhuang Water Village Full Day Private Tour from Shanghai, with Lunch. Realizing I wanted to see the surrounding area of Shanghai, I asked the hotel for a recommendation, and they suggested this tour. As a non-Chinese speaker, I was extremely grateful for Jessie who was assigned to be my english speaking guide for the day. I could not have been happier with the service Jessie provided (through Grey Line). Her driver and vehicle were also of top quality. Jessie arrived at the hotel to pick me up at the appointed time, 9am (she was better than prompt - she was early!). Jessie greeted me in a friendly and professional manner in the hotel lobby. We then proceeded to meet her driver who was waiting for us just outside the hotel door. He was also professional and friendly. Immediately, I liked Jessie very much. She is a worldly young woman who expertly shares her knowledge about China’s culture and people, and, of course, happily highlights her home of Shanghai and the surrounding areas which we visited. Jessie impressed me with her perfect english and her ease with language. I speak no Chinese at all, and she made me feel absolutely comfortable. Jessie took me to landmarks and points of interest, always explaining the significance and importance of what we were seeing. We also enjoyed a lovely, delicious lunch together. I felt safe and well taken care of, and I enjoyed the conversation. Without Jessie, I would have come away from Shanghai with a much diminished view of the land and people. She enhanced my experience by a vast amount. I will definitely choose to do another tour with Jessie whenever the next opportunity arrises.

    Unique and Amazing

Jessie (Hua Lin) was our tour guide for this amazing excursion. Suzhou and Zhouzhang captures the historic and natural charm of China that is almost impossible to find in the larger cities. The Suzhou tour went through historic properties, including the canals and bridges, and a unique silk factory experience. Zhouzhang is a very charming city and a unique view of the rural areas in Jiangsu. Jessie is an amazing guide - knowledgeable, engaging, prepared, and extremely considerate. Highly recommended all around.

Jamie makes the difference in your experience!

Had an awesome day with Jamie's group. I came for business and attached a day tour. From the beginning (and throughout the day) j ensured everyone was included and interacted so very quickly we all made chit chat between ourselves. I had been on another tour the day before and the tour guide was awful. I really think the commentary and interaction as well as the time given at each spot made the difference. Highly recommend this tour but in particular with Jamie.

Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.

How much does Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $338 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.

Is Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Suzhou&zhouzhuang Water Village Day Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Shanghai?

    +

On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Shanghai?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Shanghai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
