A memorable Xi'an trip

From the first touch base till itinerary finalization, Owen was always attentive, caring and patient. From a 2-day trip, Owen created the 3-day itinerary for me, which at the end I think was much better. 2 days could have been too rush for exploring Xi'an and the vast history of this city. Owen firstly secured roundtrip tickets for my Shanghai-Xi'an flights. Hotel and tour guide came after that. Airport transportation info was shared closer to the day but with enough time for peace of mind. Rocky picked me up at Xi'an airport with his trusty off-road car, yes, that Jeep lookalike. Fun! Rocky was a very careful driver despite the fun car. Within 3 days, I was able to visit the major scenes of Xi'an, from the Terracotta warriors, to the old city wall, from the museum to the Han Yan Ling mausoleum. The magic? Rocky arranged the itinerary in a way that we could avoid the crowd but still had enough time to check out important things. Riding bicycle along the city wall was great. It's a long ride but we paced out with breaks so I didn't feel too tired. Lovely seeing many Chinese girls in hanfu taking photos along the way. And it was not just about history and scenery. On the second day, Rocky brought me to the morning farmers market we tried different snack along the way, and more food in the afternoon at the Muslim market after the city wall bike ride. I came to Xi'an with mainly info about the Terracotta warriors and left the city with more great impression about how talented people in ancient time were. Those handicrafts were amazing. Last but not least, thanks for arranging the road trip to the mountain and cave houses! The mountains were beautiful with autumn foliage. But the cave houses...it was an eye opener for me about how different lives were just within a short period of time. Ah and don't forget about the hotel. It was a great pick. Super modern, clean and in a great location. The airport transportations were also fancy (Mercedes no less). To sum up, highly recommended, especially the 3-day option. If you're not in a rush, it will give you more flexibility and chances to learn more about Xi'an.

Response from the operator: Hi Tram, great to read your excellent for us, thanks again. Xi'an is a amazing city in China, as the starting point of Silk Road, it has the longest history in China. I am happy that you enjoy the tour in Xi'an with Rocky, he is one of our best tour guides in Xi'an. Welcome back to China again, let's make a new travel plan for you to visit some other parts of China. Keep in touch, have a nice day. Best regards, Owen

Great informative & enjoyable tour

This was a great trip, starting with car transfer in Shanghai, flights to Xian & meeting our guide, Michael. He was very through in his knowledge of all area ox Xian - the Terracotta Warriors, city wall, temples & Emperor's tomb. Our overnight accommodation was great & return flight back to Shanghai was a dream. Michael was full of facts, fun stories & nothing was to much trouble to help us. Highly recommend this tour. Owen is Amazing

Traveled all over China with Owen with 3 teenage boys. Owen was the perfect guide that made all of us comfortable and took care of any and all issues that came up. Highly knowledge about history and also how to get things done. He also quietly how to help and when to let us have family moments together. Thank you Owen!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words, Aricia! It was truly a pleasure traveling with your family and the three boys across China. Making sure everyone feels comfortable and taken care of — while also knowing when to step back for family moments — is something I always strive for. I'm so glad the history and cultural experiences resonated with all of you. Your family was wonderful to guide, and I hope to see you all again on another China adventure someday!

I have seen some warriors in...

I have seen some warriors in Singapore museum exhibition several years ago. Seeing thousands of them here left me speechless and amazed of the grandness.
The guide, Michael, was knowledgeable and professional. He selected special local food menu that are unique and delicious.
The driver, Mr. Wang, also full attention, he has umbrella ready when it rain.
Stephen in Shanghai was very punctual and attentive. Back to Shanghai I needed to get my luggages and move to another hotel. Stephen accompanied me to ensure I am safely arrived and checked in, even it was raining and took him extra 1 hour to help me settle down.
I traveled solo, and they made me feel safe. Highly recommended.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review, Daisy! We're so glad the Terracotta Warriors left you speechless — they truly are one of China's most awe-inspiring sights. It's great to hear that Michael provided knowledgeable guidance and selected unique local food for you, and that Mr. Wang was so attentive as your driver. We're especially proud of Stephen for going above and beyond in Shanghai — staying an extra hour in the rain to help you settle into your hotel shows the level of care we strive for. Making solo travelers feel safe and well taken care of is very important to us. Thank you for the recommendation!

Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Shanghai.

How much does Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air cost?

+

Prices start at $1060 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Shanghai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air take?

+

Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Shanghai is not rushed.

Is Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Shanghai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Shanghai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Shanghai and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Tour: 2-Day/3-Day Xi'an Round-Trip from Shanghai by Air start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Shanghai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Shanghai?

+

On Outty we rank every Shanghai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Shanghai Full Day City Tour with Old and New Highlights, Suzhou Private Day Trip from Shanghai with Bullet Train Option, 4-Hour Flexible Private Shanghai City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Shanghai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Shanghai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
