Not as private or informative
This was not a good tour. This tour, even though labeled as private, was not private. When we got to the port winery, we were put on a tour with 20 other people. Further more, when we started the tasting, we were surprised to discover that the cheese platter that was listed as part of the experience, was not there. Driver / Guide had heavy accent, and his mastery of English language left a lot to be desired.
Response from the operator: Hi Irina. Thank you for your review and we are sorry that the tour did not meet your expectations. This tour is completely private and you will have the use of a van just for you and a guide/driver who is completely dedicated to your well-being. Regarding the tour of the Port Wine Cellar, closing the cellar just for us would have been a much higher cost than what you actually paid, as you can understand. Allow me to just say a word of appreciation to your guide who dedicated himself so much to ensuring that you enjoyed the tour. Once again, we are sorry that you did not enjoy it.

Super afternoon!
We had a very nice afternoon! Our guide Patricia took us to a beautiful viewpoint, followed by a tour and tasting and to finish we were guided by car through the best places of postage. We travel with two children and she has tailored the tour to our wishes. Patricia was enthusiastic and has told us many valuable and also fun stories about the city. Finally, she gave several tips for the day after the tour and dropped us off at a nice restaurant. Rarely had such information, tailor-made tour!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the friendly comment that we are very happy with. We hope to see you soon.

Great tour!
My mom and I went on this tour and it turned out to be just the two of us that day so it turned into a nice little private tour! Guillerme was courteous, professional and funny and showed us places we could never see as a tourist or on one of the larger buses. The wine and cheese tasting was fabulous as well! Lots of education on Port wines, capped off with purchasing a couple to take home. Delicious! All in all, I highly recommend the tour. Just enough to see Porto, taste some wine and still have the day left over to explore. Thanks so much!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind words, which are very joyful for us. We look forward to seeing you next time.

A must do - and worth every penny
This tour is just great! We got picked up on time in a nice Mercedes Benz mini van. The drive was comfortable, with some fast paced drivning. Guillierme is a good driver, he knows how to get around in the sometimes chaotic traffic in porto. The first quinta was beautiful and secluded. Here we got some audioguides while we walked among the vines for about half an hour. After the walk we had a tasting of a White, Ruby and tawny port. Then off to the boat ride in pinhao. The boatride was relaxing and breathtakingly beautiful. After that it was time for lunch at a great local place. The last part of the trip was the best, on top of the vally we visited a small quinta - quinta do jalloto. From there you get the most amazing view! Plus you get to taste some great wine! We were guided by André, a nice guy with a lot of knowledge. They also produce honney and oliveoil, this was included in our tasting. All in all a great day with a good guide. My only regret is that I forgot to give a tip.. I hope this review can make up just a little for that. This was our best expirience in Portugal. Thank you!

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting cost?
+
Prices start at $35 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Porto Half Day Tour: Port Wine Cellars and Cheese Tasting start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
