Wonderful boat day to Capri!
We had the most incredible boat day around Capri, and it was all thanks to our skipper, Giovanni. From the moment we stepped on board, he went above and beyond to make sure we had an unforgettable experience. Giovanni showed us all of his favourite spots around the island, including some beautiful hidden gems we never would have found on our own. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always happy to help with anything we needed throughout the day. It was also our friend’s birthday, and Giovanni helped us celebrate in style. He recommended an amazing restaurant for lunch and even helped us secure a table straight away, making the whole day completely stress-free. Thank you, Giovanni, for your kindness, professionalism, and for making our day in Capri so special. We couldn’t have asked for a better skipper and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Capri!

Beautiful trip but beware - look at posting on website not app to see extra costs
Giuseppe was a wonderful skipper, informed us of everything we were looking at and was a good host. Lovely day in Capri. However… I booked through the TripAdvisor app and it did list some exclusions, but the exclusions ultimately equaled 400€ for port fees and gas. $460 more… The trip was already $650.00 so I was surprised by this amount and the exact amounts were not listed on the app nor through the confirmation email link. The owner also did not contact me until 8:40pm the night before leaving no room for cancellation if desired due to cost of the trip almost doubling. Caution - Just read the website additional information on this listing and not only the app because the price of this trip is VERY misleading.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to read your review, especially considering the effort we made to accommodate your requests and ensure you enjoyed your day in Capri. We would like to clarify that the extra costs for fuel and port fees are clearly stated in the tour description and listed among the exclusions. These charges are not hidden and have been part of our tour conditions for many years. We have been operating these tours for over 10 years, and thousands of guests have booked with full awareness of these additional costs. If the TripAdvisor app did not display all the details as clearly as the website, unfortunately this is not something we can control. The information is provided in the official tour description, where all exclusions and extra costs are specified. Regarding our message the evening before the tour, this is our standard procedure for all guests. We contact customers to confirm the meeting point, departure time, and skipper details. The purpose of this communication is not to introduce new charges, but simply to remind guests of information that is already included in the booking details. We are also disappointed by your comments because, despite your concerns, we chose to cover the €100 Capri port fee on your behalf as a gesture of goodwill. We did this to help avoid further inconvenience and to ensure you could still enjoy the experience. We are pleased that you appreciated Giuseppe’s professionalism and hospitality and that you had a lovely day in Capri. For this reason, we feel your review does not fully reflect the efforts we made to assist you and the overall quality of the experience provided. We wish you all the best and thank you again for visiting Capri with us. Kind regards, Sorrento Rent Boats

Matteo will be very happy to know that his friendliness, professionalism, and knowledge helped make your experience even more enjoyable. We’re also glad you had plenty of time to explore Capri and create special memories along the way. We hope to welcome you on board again soon! Sorrento Rent Boats ⚓😊🌊

Would not recommend
Would not recommend this trip. Tour guides could not speak English properly. Beware of the fuel costs. The company demands you pay 100 euro for the skipper. Regardless of service. 300 euro for fuel and they demand cash. Did expect PayPal for payment. The fuel costs should be billed as part of the original payment. Not during the excursion. Frustrating and ruined the experience.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that the additional €100 charge was not for the skipper, but for the mandatory Capri port taxes and landing fees, which are imposed by the local authorities and are outside of our control. Regarding the €300 fuel cost, this amount corresponds to the actual fuel consumed during the excursion and is paid directly at the fuel station. For this reason, we kindly request cash payment whenever possible, as card payments involve additional transaction fees that we would otherwise have to absorb. We would also like to point out that both the Capri port fees and the fuel costs are clearly listed in the “Not Included” section of the tour description. Unfortunately, it seems there may have been some misunderstanding regarding what was included in the original booking price and what was not. We always strive to be transparent about all costs before departure and regret that this affected your overall impression of the tour. Kind regards, The Team

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Positano.
How much does Private Day Boat Trip to Capri and Blue Grotto from Positano cost?
+
Prices start at $550 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Positano usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Day Boat Trip to Capri and Blue Grotto from Positano take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Positano is not rushed.
Is Private Day Boat Trip to Capri and Blue Grotto from Positano worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Positano, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Boat Trip to Capri and Blue Grotto from Positano?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Day Boat Trip to Capri and Blue Grotto from Positano suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Day Boat Trip to Capri and Blue Grotto from Positano?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Positano can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Positano and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Day Boat Trip to Capri and Blue Grotto from Positano start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Positano within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Positano?
+
On Outty we rank every Positano experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Cooking class with Pasta, mozzarella and Tiramisu with wine, Capri and Blue Grotto Semi Private Boat Day Trip from Sorrento, From Sorrento: Positano & Amalfi Coast Boat Tour with Pick Up. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Positano?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Positano?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
