Family Trip in July
Touring Iceland for a week with our family of five in Danny’s capable hands was simply amazing from start to finish. Danny was extremely responsive during the planning phase and always careful to understand our wants and needs and meet them, rather than trying to force us into a cookie cutter experience. During the trip he greeted us (on time or early) each day with a big smile that never left his face - no matter how long the drive, no matter how many questions we asked, no matter how many bathroom breaks or snack stops we needed, no matter if we changed the itinerary mid-day or had to double back to the hotel to grab an extra item of clothing. When we decided mid-trip we wanted to hike more, Danny quickly rearranged our schedule to make that happen. When we here hungry, Danny was ever-ready with a spot-on recommendation and always careful to call ahead for a table if necessary. He encouraged us to pick the music in the vehicle and grooved along with us as we saw some of the most stunning natural scenery on the planet. We hit all the must-see spots but were never swarmed by big crowds. Part of Danny’s secret sauce is knowing the perfect time to arrive for the best light and the fewest fellow travelers, and when to take the road less traveled instead of the tourist superhighway. We saw puffins fly over our heads, walked on a glacier, swam in ice cold pools and a warm geothermal stream. We saw sunsets near midnight, tossed axes and drank mead like Vikings, saw hundreds of waterfalls, and hiked windswept mountain passes and tranquil green valleys dotted with sheep. We saw a geyser erupt, ate ice cream next to the cows who supplied the milk, and walked among pale blue iceberg chunks on a black sand beach. And much more. With Danny as the expert planner, driver, fixer, and photographer, my wife and I got to actually enjoy this family trip rather than stressing all night and day about pulling it off. Please do not make your own first trip to Iceland unless you have Danny as your guide. He will treat you like family when you are there and will email you a beautiful digital album of photos and videos after you get home. Just don’t book all of his available days because we can’t wait to go back!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this incredible review! It truly means the world to me. It was an absolute pleasure showing your family around Iceland, and I'm so glad I could help make your trip stress-free and full of unforgettable memories. Thank you for trusting me with your adventure and for your kind words. I hope to welcome you all back to Iceland for another adventure someday! 🇮🇸😊

Danny is the absolute BEST!
We Traveled to Iceland with our 3 young adult children and they all said “Danny is the best guide we have ever had!” Danny is so knowledgable about Iceland, its history, and its sights, but what differentiates him from other guides is his ability to tailor the itinerary perfectly for each individual client. He gets to know you and shapes each day based on your style. He also knows how to show you the famous sights at times when crowds are low and during the busy times, he is showing you “hidden gems”. Our hikes with Danny were our favorites! You will not regret choosing Danny as your Iceland guide! Even though he is the one and only Auroraman, his summer trips are just as spectacular!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! It was an absolute pleasure showing your family around Iceland. I’m so happy everyone enjoyed the adventure, especially the hikes and hidden gems. Thank you for trusting me with your trip, and I hope to welcome you all back to Iceland for another adventure someday! 🇮🇸😊

Danny is the best
Danny is the best tour guide you can get in Iceland! (Not joking) he’s the man.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. It was a pleasure showing you around Iceland, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the experience. I hope to see you back for another adventure in the future. All the best! 🇮🇸😊

The best experience!
Danny is absolutely amazing! This was truly a life changing experience, ever since I was a kid I’ve dreamed of seeing the Auroras, Danny was so knowledgeable and taught my husband and I so much! From how to chase auroras down, to all about the Icelandic culture & land! It was honestly like hanging out with a friend, we highly highly recommend booking a trip with Danny! Thank you for giving us a trip we will hold onto for the rest of our lives!

Passionate guide and photographer
Danny is truly passionate about his work. It's admirable how much he enjoys capturing moments. He's very careful and professional with the service he offers. In our case, it was a private Northern Lights tour where we were secretly going to get engaged. Danny was very attentive every day since the original date couldn't be arranged due to bad weather. Highly recommended.

Why this scores 58
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.
How much does Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos cost?
+
Prices start at $1699 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.
Is Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 59 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable nightlife in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos?
+
Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Aurora Hunt in Iceland with Professional Photos start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?
+
On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Reykjavik?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
