Jared - above and beyond guide
Great tour if you like a less strenuous trip with spectacular views. Our guide, Jared, was fantastic and took us for food in a local favorite restaurant of his. Above and beyond. A good way to end the day.

Great tour company with reasonable rates
I spent 3 enjoyable days traveling around El Salvador with Jared in a private vehicle in January 2026. He is professional, punctual, customer focused, friendly and very helpful. He is also very easy going and flexible. I discussed initial plans for each day which changed a few times, but he never complained. He made good suggestions, and added things to the itinerary that I may have missed otherwise. I found his rates very reasonable as well. In addition to the old cable car viewpoint at sunset, I also went to El Boqueron, puerta del diablo, Suchitoto, Cihuatan and Santa Ana Volcano. He aslo took me to one of his favorite papuseria for dinner which was great!

Above and Beyond in Every Way — Ten Stars If I Could!
I have never — and I mean NEVER — been so utterly impressed by a tour in my entire life. Let me make something crystal clear: I have high standards, and I genuinely did not expect this tour to be as astronomically good as it was. But oh my goodness, it completely blew me away. First of all, the guide? An actual legend. A gentleman. A hero among men. His music taste alone deserves its own separate award. Finally, someone who understands the power of a good playlist! He didn’t just drive — he curated an experience. And the sunset? Words barely do it justice. I was fully prepared to take a few photos and move on, but NO — He told us to take our time, stay as long as we wanted — no rushing, no pressure. He even offered to bring the car up to us because it was getting dark, like we were royalty out there in the mountains. Who does that these days?! And just when I thought it couldn’t possibly get better? He took us to the gas station so we could grab snacks for the ride home. I’m sorry, what?! Above and beyond doesn’t even begin to describe this level of care. To anyone even remotely considering this tour: stop hesitating. Book it immediately. Cancel your other plans. Honestly, I’d give this experience ten stars if I could. I will be telling everyone about this until the end of time.

Why this scores 78
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Salvador.
How much does Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Salvador usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Salvador is not rushed.
Is Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Salvador, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 3-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Salvador can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Salvador and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private 4x4 Tour with View of San Salvador from the Former Cable Car start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Salvador within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Salvador?
+
On Outty we rank every San Salvador experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best Day Tour: Santa Ana Volcano Hiking + Lake Coatepeque, San Salvador Tour: Devil’s Door, Volcano, Slide & Historic Center, Santa Ana Volcano Early Morning Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Salvador?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Salvador?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
