Hop on hop off bus trip

Sadly we couldn’t hop on and off due to the bus being booked privately for the next four hours so couldn’t pickup. Makes a joke of the hop on hop off idea. After complaining and some negotiation we were told to come back at 4.30 for the sunset trip and cruise. The Mekong River cruise described as optional is actually at an additional charge. Not well explained. The one hour cruise lasted only 45 minutes and a free drink was not included. Hop on hop off is a great concept but a bit under developed and under resourced in this instance. Staff was lovely and the commentary okay.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry your experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that our Hop-On Hop-Off service operates on scheduled departure times, and on rare occasions a bus may be unavailable due to operational requirements. We apologize for the inconvenience and were pleased to offer you our 4:30 PM Sunset Tour as an alternative. Regarding the Mekong River cruise, it is an optional add-on and not included with the standard bus ticket. We appreciate your comments and will continue improving how we communicate our schedules and tour inclusions. Thank you for recognizing our friendly staff, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.

Different ways to visit Siem Reap

Even though we’re Cambodians and have lived in Siem Reap for years, we often spend our weekends walking around the city. This tour gave us a fresh and unique way to experience Siem Reap. We felt safe and well looked after thanks to the excellent driving and friendly service from the Tiara team. The bus tour takes you around the city and along the moat of Angkor Wat, making the journey both relaxing and enjoyable. If you’re feeling stressed from work or studying, we highly recommend this tour to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Siem Reap. Cheers.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! It means a lot to us to hear that, even as locals, you discovered a fresh and enjoyable way to experience Siem Reap. We’re delighted that our team made you feel safe and well looked after throughout the tour. Thank you for your kind recommendation—we hope to welcome you back again for another relaxing ride soon!

A good tour but some things let it down

The bus tour was interesting and it took in many of the main tourist sites in Phnom Penh. When I visit a new city I always try to take a hop-on hop-off bus to familiarise myself with the area. I took 3 rides altogether - 2 in the morning and 1 at sunset (see below). Fong was an engaging and humerous tour guide. He ensured everyone was included in the chat and his command of many languages was impressive. All staff were very friendly and helpful. I would give a 5 star BUT on arrival the bus had not been cleaned from the night before and empty bottles and litter were left on the floor and seats, despite there being at least 3 members of staff in the office. The first route taken did not match the map so it was very confusing. When I asked about the afternoon tour time and pick up as I had planned to take this in order to visit some sights, I was informed that the buses were not running in the afternoon but I could take the sunset cruise free of charge. This was fine and it was a great tour but it was not how I’d planned my day. It would have been very useful if the tour guide had pointed out the actual pick up points along the route, otherwise tourists could waste time and energy looking for bus stops.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the tours, especially Fong’s engaging guidance, and that our team made you feel welcome. We sincerely apologize that the bus was not cleaned before your morning tour. This is not the standard we aim to provide, and we will address it with our team. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the route map, afternoon schedule, and the visibility of our pick-up points. Your suggestions are very helpful, and we will work to improve the experience and communication for future guests. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Phnom Penh.

Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Phnom Penh.

How much does Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor cost?

    +

Prices start at $9 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Phnom Penh usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor take?

    +

Plan for about 1.1 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Phnom Penh is not rushed.

Is Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Phnom Penh, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Phnom Penh can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Phnom Penh and add a light layer if any part of the 1.1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Phnom Penh: Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Angkor start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Phnom Penh within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Phnom Penh?

    +

On Outty we rank every Phnom Penh experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Half Day Tuol Sleng S21 and Choeung Ek Killing Field Tour, The Killing Field and Toul Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) Tour, Killing field and Toul Sleng genocide museum Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Phnom Penh?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Phnom Penh?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
