Nightmare
It was truly a horrible experience. I booked a private tour with my 2 kids. When the driver/tour guide came to pick me up he asked me were we were going I asked him if he didn’t know? He told me he had problems and he forgot. So i told him that i booked a your for cotswolds and oxford. He asked me if i had a postcode. I asked him why? He asked me again were i was going to go. So ihad to tell him again to cotswolds. He didn’t know what it was. He started to look in his phone. He asked me if it was a water park. I started to get upset. I was alone with my 2 kids and this person didn’t even know were i was going. How was he supposed to be a tour guide if he knew nothing if the place. He continued driving so i wrote viator to complain. Someone in viator decided to tell him i was complaining. He got reallly mad and started to tell me that i was a bad person and that he could loose his licence. I continued to be scared because of his attitude. Later he stoped to to put gas in the car. Isn’t he supposed to do this before he picks me up? When he finally figured out were we were going he dropped us off and told me to send him my location when iwas done. So me and my kids had to walk around clueless around time without any explanation of the place. When we were done we didn’t have internet coverage so i had to go near a hotel and pay for wifii to send him my location. I tried to call him but he didn’t answer. So i decided yo walk back yo the place he left us. He wasnt there either. I had to connect to another wifii and send him my location again. This time he answered. He picked us up and was mad again. He told us that why did we send him 2 different locations. I tried explaining but he didn’t listen. Finally he asked me. Were do you want go go know. So i said oxford. He drove us there without talking. He parked in front of the natural science museum and said we are here. I asked him were are we? And he said in the museum. So i told him that we wanted to go to the university. He was mad again and drove us there. Then he told us the same thing. Send me your location when you are done. It was a terrible experience. I have used viator all my life without any problems. But this experience was horrible.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback, and we’re truly sorry to hear about your experience. First and foremost, we’d like to sincerely apologise for the distress and inconvenience caused to you and your children. That’s absolutely not the standard we aim to deliver, and we completely understand how frustrating and unsettling this situation must have been—especially on what was meant to be a special and enjoyable private tour. we take great pride in partnering with experienced and professional drivers. We’re very disappointed to hear that your driver was unprepared, lacked local knowledge, and did not communicate in a respectful or supportive manner. This is not acceptable, and we are taking your feedback seriously. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we will be following up with the driver and our team to ensure this situation is thoroughly investigated and never repeated. We genuinely appreciate your continued support of Viator and deeply regret that this experience fell so far short of your expectations. Should you choose to travel with us again, we would love the opportunity to make it right and deliver the quality service you truly deserve. Why this scores 47
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.
How much does Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur cost?
+
Prices start at $480 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.
Is Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Oxford and Traditional Cotswolds Tour with Private Chauffeur start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in London?
+
London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit London?
+
May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in London?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
