A city tour that is worth it

We had a very good guide for the tour with excellent knowledge and expertise. If we should be in Saint Gallen again, we will repeat it.

    Robbed

We booked and paid for a tour in English, travelled 2 hours to get to St.Gallen, only to find the tour is only available in German!

Response from the operator: Hello, and thank you for your review! We sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the tour language. Unfortunately, due to a booking error, the English option was mistakenly available to book. We only became aware of this on the day of your visit, and we apologized to you immediately upon your arrival. To make up for the inconvenience, we offered you a full refund and also provided our audio guide free of charge. As you mentioned that you understood German, you decided to join the guided tour. The complimentary audio guide was available throughout the visit so that you could listen to any parts again in English if needed. We understand that this situation was disappointing, especially after your journey to St.Gallen. We have since corrected the booking system to ensure this mistake cannot happen again. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again under better circumstances. Kind regards, Your team from St.Gallen-Bodensee Tourism

    We recommend!!

The Bonstetten cultural group would like to thank the St. Gallen-Bodensee tourist office!! The tours of the old town, the cathedral and the abbey library were very interesting and explained very well and in a very friendly manner by Ms. Dommann and Ms. Walker. Thank you very much and big praise to both of you! I would personally love to do it again, but I would plan a lot more time. There is still so much to discover and experience. Thank you very much, also on behalf of the Bonstetten cultural group :)

Response from the operator: Guten Tag liebe Kulturgruppe Bonstetten Herzlichen Dank für Ihre nette Bewertung.

Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Zurich.

How much does Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library cost?

    +

Prices start at $42 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Zurich usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Zurich is not rushed.

Is Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Zurich, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Zurich can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Zurich and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Old Town Tour with Cathedral and Collegiate Library start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Zurich within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Zurich?

    +

On Outty we rank every Zurich experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Zurich Food Tour with 10 Local Delicacies, Cheeses & Chocolates, Private, excellent guided tour of Zurich (from CHF 21/pers.), Zürich Historic District Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Zurich?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Zurich?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
