Long but worthwhile day trip to north coast from Taipei

Our family of 12 had a memorable day trip with Florence our guide to Yehliu, Shifen waterfall, Shifen and Jiufen old streets. We were picked up right outside our airbnb. Our time at the Yehliu geopark was quite warm but Florence led us to the most famous spots and took photos of the group at the famous Queen’s Head. The seafood restaurant that Florence recommended was delicious but was challenging to order food which delayed our next activities. Shifen waterfall was beautiful and releasing personalized lanterns was fun. Our time at Jiufen old street was limited because we were behind schedule due to our long lunch.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted that your family of 12 had a memorable day exploring Yehliu, Shifen Waterfall, Shifen Old Street, and Jiufen with Florence. It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the scenery, the group photos at Queen’s Head, the seafood lunch, and the sky-lantern activity. We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the long lunch and the limited time in Jiufen. We are sorry that the ordering process caused delays and affected the remainder of your itinerary. Your comments are valuable, and we will use them to improve meal arrangements and time management for future tours. Thank you again for choosing us. We hope the many special moments from your Northern Taiwan adventure will remain wonderful memories for your family.

Great day in Jiufen and surrounding areas

My family and I booked this 1 day trip and our driver/guide was Wilson. He was very accomodating and went around with us to to almost all the areas except the Yehliu park. He gave us very clear instructions on where to go and where to meet him. The other places where he went with us, he took time and was not rushing us. He was very clear and there wouldnt be any language barrier. He included history of Taiwan as this was our first time. For the itinerary, it was good. We went to many places and felt we had enough time to look around and enjoy. Wilson is awesome at taking pictures. He even gave us a link to retrieve all outlr photos/ video for the day. Like having a professional photographer with you. It was an easy pick up and drop off. He also told us where to het nice photos and how to walk around ourselves during some free time. Overall, the tour may be a little on the pricier side but it was bang for your buck - very satisfied with the tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We’re thrilled to hear that your family had such a great day exploring Yehliu, Jiufen, Pingxi, and the surrounding areas with Wilson. It’s wonderful to know that Wilson made the tour smooth, comfortable, and easy to follow, especially with clear meeting instructions, helpful background on Taiwan, and a relaxed pace throughout the day. We’re also glad you enjoyed his photography skills — having beautiful photos and videos to remember the trip by is such a special bonus! We truly appreciate your kind words about the itinerary, pickup and drop-off, and the overall value of the tour. Thank you for choosing Justaiwantour for your first visit to Taiwan, and we hope to welcome your family back for another memorable trip someday!

    Amazing experience

I had an amazing experience with Jennifer, my tour guide for my first solo trip to Taiwan! From start to finish, it felt like having a knowledgeable friend walking together with me and made the entire trip feel effortless and fun. Every stop was thoughtfully planned, and the stories shared brought the places to life. What I loved most was how attentive and patient she is. Knowing that I am a vegetarian, she will help to search for vegetarian food in Taiwan for me to try. It wasn’t just a tour—it felt like an adventure with a friend who truly cares about creating memorable experiences. And thank you for the beautiful sketch, it is lovely. I highly recommend this guide to anyone looking for an unforgettable journey!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! Jennifer is very happy to hear that you had an amazing experience on your first solo trip to Taiwan. We're glad that the tour felt smooth, fun, and friendly for you, and that the stories and planning helped bring each place to life. Thank you again for your recommendation. We truly appreciates it and wishes you many more wonderful adventures ahead!

Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Taipei.

How much does Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi cost?

    +

Prices start at $76 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Taipei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Taipei is not rushed.

Is Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Taipei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Taipei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Taipei and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Northern Taiwan Private Adventure: Yehliu, Jiufen, & Pingxi start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Taipei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Taipei?

    +

On Outty we rank every Taipei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Private Custom Taipei City Tour, Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi, Full-Day Private Northern Taiwan Tour from Taipei with Pickup. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Taipei?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Taipei?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
