YehLiu Geopark
Yehliu is a cape on Taiwan’s northern coast best known for Yehliu Geopark, where sea erosion has shaped honeycomb and mushroom rocks such as the iconic Queen’s Head and Dragon’s Head. The area is mostly flat but offers little shade, so sun protection is advised during summer.

Shifen Waterfall
Shifen Waterfall is Taiwan’s most famous cascade, fed by the Keelung River, and measures about 20 meters (66 feet) high and 40 meters (131 feet) wide. Reaching the viewing platform takes about a 30-minute walk, partly shaded and crossing a suspension bridge.
40 minutes here
Shifen Old Street
This old street is right next to Shifen Station in the Pingxi area, where an active railway line runs straight through the market. Visitors launch sky lanterns on the tracks, pausing whenever a train rumbles by.
40 minutes here
Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street)
Feel transported to this former gold-mining mountain town—once built by the Japanese and now a maze of history-rich lanes and alleys. Most of the charming streets are stairways lined with snack stalls and teahouses, and they can get quite crowded. (Tip: If you’d like to experience Jiufen at sunset or dusk, book a departure after 11:00 AM. This will make Jiufen the final stop, giving you time to enjoy the sunset views and evening lights.)

Elevated, relaxing, and enjoyable experience
Alex was our guide. He was professional, knowledgable, thoughtful, courteous, and more. He exceeded our expectations and made our day long private tour splurge (for us as we usually guide ourselves using public transportation) an elevated, relaxing, and enjoyable experience. I would be very pleased to have Alex again should I return to Taiwan and book another guided tour. Thank you Alex.

The most perfect day!
It was our first time going to most of the places on the itinerary. Jackson was a superb host and guide. It’s a great ‘finishing’ trip during our time in Taiwan as well. We started the trip at 1 pm because we wanted to be able to see Jiufen in the evening. Even though it’s in the peak of summer, the weather cooperated beautifully. It rained in the morning before we started our trip and by the time we got to Yeliu, it was overcast with the sun peaking through here and there. It was also breezy, and the same goes for the rest of the day. Jackson showed us many of the best spots to take photos and also took photos and videos of us. We made a stop to get some bubble teas along the way. 🧋He also took us to a great spot for dinner up in Jiufen. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and really cater to what we wanted. We would definitely use him again when we return to Taiwan. Thank you, Jackson! 🙏

Memorable Day!
Hicks Wang was such a great guide and really made our day special. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to, and his English was excellent. He also came prepared with umbrellas and water, which was really thoughtful and made things much more comfortable for us. He even went the extra mile and treated my kids to boba tea and some local sweets, which they absolutely loved!! We had such a fun and memorable day with Hicks and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a great guide. Thank you, Hicks, for making our day so enjoyable and memorable!

A wonderful day trip from Taipei
Jack, our driver and guide, was amazing. He was polite, informative, ready to answer any question and attend any need. Despite the extremely hot temperatures, this was an amazing day trip.

Why this scores 89
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Taipei.
How much does Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi cost?
+
Prices start at $120 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Taipei usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Taipei is not rushed.
Is Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 89 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 533 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Taipei, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi?
+
Around 187 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Taipei can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Taipei and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Tour to Jiufen, Yehliu Geopark, and Pingxi start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Taipei within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Taipei?
+
On Outty we rank every Taipei experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Full-Day Private Custom Taipei City Tour, Full-Day Private Northern Taiwan Tour from Taipei with Pickup, Small-Group: Yehliu, Jiufen & Pingxi Day Tour from Taipei. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Taipei?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Taipei?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
