What you get

    About this experience

A Via Ferrata, which means “iron way” in Italian, is a method of mountaineering & rock climbing that’s been used in Europe for centuries. Via Ferrata courses use a combination of ladders, rungs, rails, cables and bridges to aid in moving across and up a cliff face. The Iron Way in Idaho Springs is an assisted rock climbing guided tour where guests clip into cables that run along the side of a cliff. They then move along a designated path of iron rungs and bridges to move across, and along the way they will be required to clip in and out of the cable to progress through the course. This is made possible through an advanced internal locking system in the carabiners. Each guest will have 2 carabiners connected to bungee-style lanyards on their harness. The internal locking system makes it impossible to clip out of both at the same time, insuring that climbers are connected to the cable of the course at all times.

    Scary but exhilarating! ...

Scary but exhilarating! There was some bad weather that came up while we were out there so 2 of us didn’t get to do 2 things along the course but overall it was a great experience.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're so glad to hear you found the adventure exhilarating, even with the unexpected weather. We hope you'll come back and complete the full experience with us next time. There's even more fun waiting for you!

Great time and worked with us when we were late

Great experience with friendly hosts/guides! They even called us to make sure we were close when we werent there 15 min early. We were stuck in traffic and were afraid that we weren't going to make our time, but they worked with us!! My only complaint would be the location it is not optimal. But that's mainly due to the construction and proximity to the highway, but very cool time!

Response from the operator: Hi, Thank you so much for the kind words and for sharing your experience! We're really glad our team was able to work with you and make sure you didn’t miss out, even with the traffic challenges. We completely understand your feedback about the location, and we appreciate your patience with that. We're thrilled to hear you still had a very cool time, and we hope to see you again for another adventure soon!

    A good time

This was a fun activity. We have done rock climbing and zip lining before but the via ferrata was a great mix and a new adventure. Our guides, Hunter and Jon, were knowledgeable and experienced. Our whole family had a great time.

Response from the operator: Thanks for the great review! We're so glad your family enjoyed the Via Ferrata—it’s the perfect blend of adventure, and we’re thrilled it offered something new even for experienced climbers and zippers. Hunter and Jon will be glad to hear they made it even better. Hope to see you all again for another epic day out!

How long does Mount Blue Sky Via Ferrata Climbing Experience in Idaho Springs take?

    +

Is Mount Blue Sky Via Ferrata Climbing Experience in Idaho Springs worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 71 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Idaho Springs, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Mount Blue Sky Via Ferrata Climbing Experience in Idaho Springs?

Is Mount Blue Sky Via Ferrata Climbing Experience in Idaho Springs suitable for kids and families?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Idaho Springs and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Idaho Springs?

    +

On Outty we rank every Idaho Springs experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Beginner Whitewater Rafting on Historic Clear Creek, Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver, Clear Creek Classic 2h 30m Rafting Trip - Idaho Springs, CO. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Idaho Springs?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Idaho Springs?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
