    About this experience

Clear Creek Canyon is unique in the quantity and quality of its rapids. It has more rapids than nearly any other commercially run stretch of whitewater in the nation. It is also free-flowing, meaning that the water levels change throughout the season, offering a variety of experiences. In addition to world-class rafting, it is also the home of the 1859 Gold Rush. Gold is still found in the creek by intrepid miners using pans and dredges. Guests will pass many sites of historical significance related to the Gold Rush while rafting on Clear Creek. Clear Creek is also conveniently located nearby Denver and other surrounding resorts, making it the perfect day-trip excursion.

    Wish we were told about...

Wish we were told about the drought and low water level prior to going out as we likely wouldn’t have wasted our time.

Thanks to Audrie our rafting guide, we had a great time. The water is low in certain areas but Audrie guided us with ease. This is a definite must while in Colorado.

    Great trip!

Went with family and we had a great time. We did the intermediate trip and it was great for beginners.

Amazing intermediate rafting and great guide.

Booked this experience for my 23 year old son and myself. We had an amazing time. My son ended up in the water by mistake but the guide, Nick, and someone else in the boat were quick to act to get my son n back on the raft. The cures were amazing. I will say we went on the first tour of the day at 8:30 and we were afraid we would be too cold but it was perfect. Nick did an amazing job as four of us know n the raft had a rough time keeping in sync but Nick kept guiding us to be better together. I have some mobility issues but no and but did great on the raft. I am an active 60year old and recommend the intermediate level trip if you are active or it it's your first time and you are willing to participate actively in rafting. Would do it all over again if I could!

    Positive Experience on the Rapids!

From the moment we arrived until the end of the trip, the staff was very friendly, helpful, professional, and made us feel at ease. I have been on several white water rafting trips over the years, and this was one of my favorite. The day was perfect, the water was great, and we had an excellent guide, Ben, who was kind, patient, skilled, and very encouraging! We laughed a lot and made great memories today! This was my first experience white water rafting again since my husband passed; and our guide, Ben, made it a very positive experience back out on the rapids! Thank you for a great day, Ben!

Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Idaho Springs.

How much does Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver cost?

    +

Prices start at $94 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Idaho Springs usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Idaho Springs is not rushed.

Is Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 245 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Idaho Springs, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver?

    +

Around 86 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Idaho Springs can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Idaho Springs and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Clear Creek Intermediate Whitewater Rafting near Denver start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Idaho Springs within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Idaho Springs?

    +

On Outty we rank every Idaho Springs experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Beginner Whitewater Rafting on Historic Clear Creek, Clear Creek Classic 2h 30m Rafting Trip - Idaho Springs, CO, Whitewater Raft Clear Creek - Intermediate Cannonball Run. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Idaho Springs?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Idaho Springs?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
