Although they delivered on the trip, the process, preparation and communication was the worst I've experienced with a tour agency. They don't respond unless you have texted over and over again, they are dishonest and insincere. They forced med to take a 2 days tour to Machu Picchu which they could have arranges it in one day. They tried hard to sell the rainbow mountain tour with ATV despite me telling them that I want to do the hike. They said red valley is not included in the tour although their website clearly states that this could be an option, when asked why the website has this info, their answer was that they couldn't delete it and thw info ia old. It took me a few more tries until they said that it's possible to do the red valley hike which is outrageous! They sent me a payment link with extra service charge multiple times until I got mad at them and suddenly they could send me a payment link with the exact amount that I owed them. The guides they provide are disengaged, don't speak English very well. You would get your final itenerary late at night before your tour day and it's still changes suddenly at 3am in the morning when you're sleeping. I'm very disappointed in them, I chose them because they had good rating on trip advisor so I was shocked by the level of their service specially that they are more expensive than other tour agencies!

FRANK IS RUDE & ITS A SCAM
ITS A SCAM! I messaged them multiple times and they don’t wanna give me my money back after they told me there wasnt reservations for the next day and still let me book online . Frank is his name and this is his number +51 910 457 580 !
Response from the operator: Hello, dear Lizbeth Hernandez, We really appreciate your thought! The company has reviewed your records. You booked the tour at the last minute, and the company did everything possible to accommodate you. However, you contacted Frank to cancel your tour even though everything had already been organized for the next day. You booked at the last minute, and you tried to cancel at the last minute. The question is, why did you change your plan or idea at 8:30 pm? We do not accept your comment, but we need to respond to your thought genuinely. The company is not the owner of the train company (the train is a monopoly), nor is it the owner of Machu Picchu. You sent only the deposit and did not pay the remaining balance for the tour. Unfortunately, we work under terms and conditions. Therefore, the deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable. We are really sorry about it At Happy Gringo Tours, our clients are very important to us, and we are very flexible. We wish you all the best of the universe! Happy Gringo Tours Team!

NEVER BOOK YOUR TOUR HERE
Never book a Machu Picchu tour here. I booked everything over two months in advance. I'd been in touch several times in the meantime, and they said everything would be taken care of. Initially, I opted for a one-day tour, but because the organizers were late with purchasing tickets, I had to change it to a two-day tour. In short, everything would be taken care of, including an overnight stay. Nothing could be further from the truth. I was picked up right on time by taxi for the train. A "one-way" train ticket had been booked, because the return ticket hadn't been booked at all. And that wasn't the only problem. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, it turned out that absolutely nothing had been booked. No Machu Picchu tickets, no tour, no hostel! I was standing in the village without a tour guide and without tickets. Ultimately, after much phone contact during which the organizers blamed everything on my alleged mistakes, I independently refunded my train ticket. After long and heated discussions in Cusco and over the phone, I received a partial refund, but not all. I still haven't received my train ticket back, which was $100. There are many other organizations in the region that do arrange tours, so definitely don't book this one! The police and other organizations have also been notified.
Response from the operator: Hello, dear Wout Alberink, First and foremost, we would like to sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had with our agency. At Happy Gringo Tours, we value the trust our travelers place in us, and it is very concerning to hear that your trip did not meet the expectations we set. We fully acknowledge the seriousness of your concerns regarding the train tickets, Machu Picchu entrance, accommodations, and guiding services. These are fundamental elements of our tours, and it is unacceptable that you were left feeling unsupported and misinformed at any point during your journey. While unforeseen issues with ticket availability can occasionally occur, especially given the high demand at Machu Picchu, this should never result in confusion or a lack of clear communication. For that, we deeply regret the frustration you experienced. We also understand your disappointment regarding the refund process. Our intention is always to resolve matters promptly and fairly, and we regret if this was not handled smoothly in your case. Please rest assured that we are actively reviewing your booking details and correspondence to ensure that any pending refund is addressed. We encourage you to contact us directly at customerservice@happygringotours.com so that we can finalize this matter and provide the compensation still owed to you. Your feedback is invaluable to us. It highlights areas where we must improve, particularly in ticket management, real-time communication, and follow-up after unforeseen disruptions. We are implementing additional checks and communication protocols to prevent such situations from occurring again for future travelers. Once again, we extend our sincerest apologies. We hope you can accept that your experience is not reflective of the service standards we aim to provide, and we appreciate your feedback as an opportunity to grow and improve. Sincerely, Happy Gringo Tours

Machu Picchu - unforgettable in all its glory
Mauro was our guide, with Happy Gringos. He was an excellent guide and did everything he could to make sure we made it to Machu Picchu and then that our experience at Machu Picchu was unforgettable. He took some amazing pictures of me on the site. It was incredible that the sun wasn't out (not too hot) and then later after our tour, it started pouring. Having had this as a place to visit for so many years, I'm thrilled beyond belief to have had the experience of being at Machu Picchu, and with the guidance of Mauro.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience! 🌟 We’re thrilled to hear that visiting Machu Picchu was everything you had hoped for and more, and that Mauro’s dedication, guidance, and photography skills made it truly unforgettable. It’s amazing how perfectly the weather worked out for your visit—allowing you to enjoy the site comfortably before the rain came. We’re honored to have been part of such a long-awaited dream and are grateful for your kind words about our team. We’d be delighted to welcome you again for another once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Peru! 🙌🇵🇪 Warm regards, The Happy Gringo Tours Team

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days): questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.
How much does Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days) cost?
+
Prices start at $520 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days) take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.
Is Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days) worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.4/5 across 53 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days)?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days) suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 48-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days)?
+
Around 19 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Machu Picchu Tour By Train (2 Days) start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Cusco?
+
On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Cusco?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Cusco?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
