The perfect day!
We had the most incredible experience. As a family of 4 with 2 young daughters (ages 7 and 5) we knew we would only be able to handle a single day trip. We were picked up early in the AM from our hotel in Cusco and driven to Ollantaytambo in a private taxi. Our driver was incredibly nice and was clearly very familiar with the roads. We felt very safe. We were dropped off at the train station in Ollantaytambo with enough time to use the restroom and buy some bug spray, without having to wait very long. We rode the Inca Rail to Agua Caliente. The ride was beautiful and the train was very enjoyable! Our transport was completely handled by our tour guide without any issues. Once we got to Agua Caliente, we were able to easily find our guide at the train station! We walked a short distance to the bus stop. The bus took us (and our guide) to Machu Picchu. Our guide was AMAZING!! The perfect combination of educational talks/history, picture taking and fun! After the perfect amount of time exploring circuit 3 of Machu Picchu, we took the bus back down to Agua Caliente. We had 2 hours to have a nice lunch (a lot of great options) and explore. We took the train back to Ollantaytambo without issue where we were immediately met by our driver for our drive back to Cusco. It was a long day but it was perfect. Our daughters had a wonderful day. We would 100% use MINKA’s travel again and recommend them to any of our friends who are traveling to Peru! Thank you!!!

Machu Picchu from Cusco
A convenient way to see Machu Pichu from Cusco for travellers on a tight schedule. Organisation on the day was very good with a car ride from Cusco to Ollantaytambo then onto Peru rail to Agua Callientes with a final 30 minute bus ride up to gates of Machu Picchu. Without the guide meeting us from the train in Agua Callientes to get to the sure bus we would have missed our allocated entrance slot to Machu Picchu. We had an entrance slot between 8-9. This also meant a very early start from Cusco with pick up at 4.00am. The downside of doing thus trip from Cusco was that while it was advertised as duration of 11-13 hours we were in fact 19 hours. A very long day with too much free time in Agua Callientes. I can only assume return tickets on Peru rail were not booked early hence limited availability for earlier return journeys to Ollytaytambo. The two other participants on this trip booked two days beforehand.
