Great but be prepared for a whole day
Loved it but 7-12 hours long so be prepared. The crew was great and we had just enough people that it wasn’t crowded like some others we saw out there. We snorkeled for abt 30 -40 mins then stopped at two ports in Isla Mujeres- we stayed 2-3 hours there. If you can, it’s worth paying extra for the golf carts- we split w/ another couple so worked out. Included buffet and open bar at a resort- food was good and drinks decent. You could stay at the resort beach if you want instead of golf carts. The Captain stopped and let us take a quick swim on the way back. The picture package was $45- but for 35 pics, definitely worth it. Last thing, don’t forget to bring a towel and ALL NATURAL SUNSCREEN. $30 for a towel and $30 for 3 oz of sunscreen is crazy.
Response from the operator: Hi Thank you for sharing your detailed review of your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the tour and that our crew helped make the day enjoyable. We're especially happy that you appreciated the smaller group size, which allows for a more comfortable and personalized experience on board. It sounds like you made the most of your time in Isla Mujeres, and we agree that renting a golf cart is a fantastic way to explore the island and see more of its beautiful sights. We're also glad you enjoyed the snorkeling, the beach club facilities, the buffet, and the open bar. Thank you as well for sharing your helpful tips with future travelers regarding towels and reef-safe sunscreen. Since the protection of our marine ecosystem is very important, only biodegradable and all-natural sunscreen products are permitted during snorkeling activities. We appreciate you choosing Cancun Travel Experience and hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Cancun and the Riviera Maya soon! Best regards

Great Time! Longer Than Expected.
We booked this experience for our honeymoon. We had an absolute blast, but it was definitely different than advertised on Viator! The excursion is advertised as a 3 hours snorkeling and catamaran tour. In reality, we snorkeled for about 45 minutes, then took the catamaran to Isla Mujeres where we spent an hour exploring the town. After this, we were taken to a beach club for 3 hours where we had the option to rent golf carts for $60 USD to tour the island; 1 hour for lunch, 1 hour for golf carts, 1 hour for beach club. The lunch was a buffet at the beach club and it was DELICIOUS! The entire excursion ended up being about 10 hours including the transfer time from Playa Del Carmen. I highly recommend this experience but be prepared to be gone all day!
Response from the operator: Hi Congratulations on your honeymoon, and thank you for taking the time to share such a thorough review! We’re thrilled to hear you had a great time snorkeling, exploring Isla Mujeres, and enjoying the beach club buffet. Your notes about the overall trip duration and transfer times are super helpful, and we’re taking steps to ensure our listing details are as clear as possible. Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back for an anniversary trip in the future! Best regards, The Cancun Travel Experience Team

Complete waste of time and money
I booked this tour in advance to avoid the stress of planning while in Playa Del Carmen, but it ended up being the biggest headache of my trip. The Issues were- Contradictory Timing: The listing stated an 8:30 AM start. I called the day before to confirm and was told to wait for "pickup details." Despite this, they emailed after our call shifting the pickup to 7:30 AM. Because I relied on the original listing and our phone conversation, I missed the van. Poor Definitions: When I called to clarify, staff claimed "pickup details" meant the time had changed. If the time changes, that needs to be communicated explicitly, not buried in an email sent at the eleventh hour. Failed Second Attempt: We rescheduled for the next day. I was outside by 7:20 AM, only to be told at 7:40 AM—after I called them—that the dock was closed due to wind. While weather is out of their control, the lack of proactive notification meant I wasted another morning waiting on a curb instead of enjoying my limited 3-day vacation. I have requested a full refund of my $150 as no services were provided. With thousands of operators in the area, I highly recommend booking with someone who prioritizes clear, proactive customer communication.
Response from the operator: Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We truly regret that this experience caused frustration during your vacation. Regarding the pickup time, the official and confirmed pickup schedule is always sent via email once the route is finalized. The listing start time (8:30 AM) refers to the tour start time, not the hotel pickup time, which varies depending on location and route logistics. The updated 7:30 AM pickup time was sent the day prior as part of the standard confirmation process. We understand there may have been confusion, but the correct pickup time was communicated in advance. For the second date, the dock closure was due to weather conditions and instructions from the port authority. In these cases, operations can be suspended suddenly for safety reasons. As soon as confirmation was received from the marina, guests were notified. Passenger safety is always our top priority. We understand the inconvenience this caused during your short stay. However, operational updates and weather-related closures are outside of our direct control, and all communication was sent according to procedure. We appreciate your comments and will continue working to improve clarity in our communication.

Get your sail time, water people!
Awesome time out on the water! Went in the afternoon so the water at the reef and some transit was a little choppy, especially for snorkeling, but I was just there to enjoy some boat time anyway. 😄 Delighted we got to do a little sailing on the way back (never seen wing on wing on a catamaran, amazing 🥰), and the second stop in a protected marina was fantastic for a relaxing swim. Very attentive and friendly captain and staff, thanks to Celine, David, Paula and (uno mas, olvido lo siento!). Light snacks and an impressively large sandwich. Plenty of drinks. If you're picky about food just bring your own, don't kill the vibe complaining about options or fixings, ugh. There weren't a lot of details in the description, so if you need to know, the Cat departs from Puerta Aventura. About 4 hours on the water. Reef and Marina swim stop but I suspect the stops might be weather dependent. Super nice catamaran, and we were on the smaller one! Thanks again, team, this was a great trip!!

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Playa del Carmen.
How much does Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya cost?
+
Prices start at $119 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Playa del Carmen usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Playa del Carmen is not rushed.
Is Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.1/5 across 32 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Playa del Carmen, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 8. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 10-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya?
+
Around 11 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Playa del Carmen can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Playa del Carmen and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Luxury Sailing & Snorkeling Experience from Riviera Maya start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Playa del Carmen within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Playa del Carmen?
+
On Outty we rank every Playa del Carmen experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include VIP Chichen Itza Private Tour, VIP Tulum Private Tour, Chichen Itza Private Tour VIP. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Playa del Carmen?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Playa del Carmen?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
