Don’t waste your money!
Having done several interactive outdoor adventures with different companies we were looking forward to this experience. We were sadly disappointed. There was no interactivity, the directions and maps were not good, the landmarks are obvious tourist attractions that as a visitor to London you are likely to visit anyway. They are also overcrowded and difficult to walk through as a result. Sections of the route are under renovation making it impossible to find the answers. There are some excellent outdoor walking adventures on the market - this is NOT one of them
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that our adventure didn’t meet your expectations, especially given your enthusiasm for interactive outdoor activities. Our goal is to provide a unique and engaging way to explore the city, but we understand that the experience may not have resonated with you, particularly due to the challenges with the directions, maps, and the crowded nature of popular landmarks. We’re also sorry to hear that ongoing renovations impacted your ability to enjoy the adventure fully. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will use it to improve our offerings, especially in terms of interactivity and route planning. We appreciate your honest review and hope that you might consider trying another of our experiences in the future, where we aim to provide a more enjoyable adventure. Thank you again for your input.

Terrible experience
This is genuinely terrible. Me and my friends paid £66 for a booklet which tells you to go stand in a couple of locations and imagine a crime has happened. It also says because half of london is under construction you might not even be able to get to the place you’re told to go to. There is 0 level of interactiveness and no real life clues. You don’t use your phone or speak to anyone or go anywhere you just pay £22 each to walk around for a mile. it was an embarrassment to have taken my friends to this.

Team Sleuths
The constables watching us in front of the parliament building but curious as to what we were doing. They thought it was interesting.

Got to play investigator for a day!
Had fun walking the mystery in Westminister – around Buckingham Palace – with my colleagues. It was an alternative way to explore the area and I loved it!

We also got to see Buckingham Palace! All in all a nice experience. Will definitely try other Mystery Hunts.

London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for London.
How much does London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace cost?
+
Prices start at $58 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in London usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in London is not rushed.
Is London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 49 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.2/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in London, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in London can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in London and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does London Self-Guided Murder Mystery Tour by Buckingham Palace start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central London within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in London?
+
London's best attractions split cleanly: the museums are free and need no booking, so the paid market is about views, theatre and getting out of the city for a day. That makes value scoring unusually important here, and the Outty Ranking penalises anything charging premium prices for access you could get for nothing. On Outty we rank every London experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Soho Music & Historic Pubs Tour, London Small Group Tour of Historical Pubs, The Great British Rock and Roll Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit London?
+
May to September for long evenings, December for the Christmas markets. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in London?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
