A trip through time
We took the tour with Daniela, and it was everything we had hoped for. The food was excellent but for me the highlight was the walk through time in this city. Her knowledge of the city, explanations of events, culture and history and choices of establishments to stop at made it a truly wonderful cultural experience.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, John, for this beautiful review. “A trip through time” is such a wonderful way to describe the Lisbon Roots Food & Culture Tour, and it perfectly captures what we hope every guest takes away from the experience. We're delighted that, while you enjoyed the food, it was the deeper connection to Lisbon's history, culture, and character that made the greatest impression. Daniela has a remarkable gift for bringing the city to life through its stories, neighborhoods, and people, and she'll be thrilled to know her passion helped make your experience so memorable. At Taste of Lisboa, we believe that food is the gateway to understanding a place, but it's the stories behind the food, the historic streets, and the local businesses that truly reveal the soul of Lisbon. We're so pleased that the carefully chosen stops and cultural insights resonated with you. Thank you for choosing to explore Lisbon with us and for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. We hope the flavors, stories, and moments from your walk through time stay with you long after your visit.

Ricardo was a fantastic guide. Really enjoyed each of the stops.

We're delighted to hear you enjoyed every stop on the tour and had such a wonderful experience with our born-and-bred guide Ricardo. He has a unique way of bringing together Lisbon's food, history, and local culture while making everyone feel welcome and at ease. As a solo traveler, choosing a tour can be a leap of faith, so we're especially grateful you chose Taste of Lisboa. Our goal is to create small-group, authentic Lisbon experiences where guests can discover hidden corners, connect with local stories, and enjoy some of the city's most memorable flavors. Thank you for your recommendation. We hope to welcome you back for more off-the-beaten-path food and cultural discoveries in Lisbon.

Nice stroll through Lisbon streets sampling traditional foods
Guide was lovely and well informed. It was a great stroll through the streets of Lisbon sampling traditional foods and port wine. Was a little pricey for the experience.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your review, Darren. We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to explore Lisbon's streets while tasting traditional Portuguese food and Port wine. We're especially happy that you found your guide knowledgeable and engaging, as sharing the stories, culture, and character of Lisbon is at the heart of what we do. We also appreciate your honest comment about the price. As a small, independent Lisbon company, we've made a conscious decision to work with local, family-run businesses and long-standing neighborhood establishments, rather than choosing venues based on volume or commercial agreements. Many of the places we visit are small independent businesses that preserve Lisbon's culinary and cultural heritage, and supporting them is a core part of our mission. The tour price reflects not only the food and drinks, but also small group sizes, expert local guides, carefully researched historical content, and our commitment to directing business to local entrepreneurs and community establishments that larger operators often overlook. Thank you again for joining us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We hope the flavors, stories, and hidden corners of Lisbon remain among your favorite memories of the city.

Fabulous afternoon and delicious food
Danni was a fantastic and enthusiastic tour guide who felt like a friend by the end of the tour. This tour gives a wonderful introduction to Lisbon and Portuguese culture. This is the second time I w ent on the tour because I wanted mu daughter to experience it. If you love food and history and culture then this tour is a must!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Mel, for this beautiful review. What makes it especially meaningful is knowing that this was your second Taste of Lisboa tour. It simply makes our day to know a past traveler guest returning and bringing a loved one along to share the experience. The fact that you wanted your daughter to experience it too truly warms our hearts. Dani was delighted to read your generous words. One of her greatest gifts is making Taste of Lisboa's traveler guests feel less like visitors and more like friends discovering Lisbon together, and we're so happy that came through during your afternoon with her. At Taste of Lisboa, we believe that food, history, and culture are inseparable, and that the best introduction to Lisbon happens through its neighborhoods, stories, people, and flavors. Knowing that you feel this experience is a "must" for anyone visiting the city means the world to us. Thank you again for your trust, for coming back, and for sharing Lisbon with your daughter through our eyes. We hope to welcome you both again someday for even more authentic discoveries in Lisbon.

Private cultural walking tour for food and history lovers- Daniella is the Best
thank Dani for a fabulous tour last year ( June 17,2025 . It was the perfect introduction to Lisbon. The our 3 young adult sons loved it as well ! I am sorry I am so delayed but absolutely needed to give our positive review - we had the best time. This tour the highlight of our short visit to Lisbon’s the food / drink selections were amazing . She was a wealth of knowledge about it the culture and history. She had us exploring places we would have otherwise missed if on our own . We booked directly with Filipa the owner who was extremely responsive and helpful . Highly recommend !!!! .
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Lori - I can't tell you how much joy it brought us to receive this review more than a year after your tour. The fact that, after all this time, you still remembered your experience with Dani and felt compelled to come back and share these kind words is incredibly meaningful to us. What touched me most was reading that the tour was the highlight of your family's visit to Lisbon and that your three young adult sons enjoyed it as much as you did. Creating experiences that families can genuinely share and remember together is one of the reasons we do what we do. Dani got absolutely thrilled to know that her passion for Lisbon's culture, history, neighborhoods, and food stayed with you long after your trip ended. Helping visitors discover the real Lisbon, beyond the guidebooks and tourist routes, is at the heart of every Taste of Lisboa experience. And thank you for your kind words about booking directly with us. As a small, locally owned company, every traveler guest matters deeply, so hearing that you felt cared for from the very first interaction means a great deal. The greatest compliment we can receive isn't a review written the day after a tour: It's a review written a year later, when the memories are still strong and the experience still stands out. Thank you again for taking the time to come back and share this. It truly made our day at Taste of Lisboa. Warm regards, Filipa

Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.
How much does Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings cost?
+
Prices start at $109 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.
Is Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 83 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 964 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings?
+
Around 337 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Lisbon Roots - Small group Food & Culture Walking Tour w/tastings start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lisbon?
+
On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lisbon?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lisbon?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
