Full day of surfing!
This was by far one of the best experiences I’ve had! I hadn’t been surfing before, so I was a bit nervous going in. But right away, the instructor reassured us and made us all feel very comfortable. The day was full of learning the fundamentals of surfing, getting out into the water and riding some pretty fun waves, enjoying a nice break in the middle with a great barbecue and some good laughs, catching the last few waves, and ending the day with a fun car ride back to the city. This surfing operation was run very efficiently, the communication was very easy, and the environment and people were extremely welcoming. If you’re looking to learn how to surf or just want a few more tips that’ll help you grow those surfing skills, I highly recommend reaching out to this company. I’m already booking my next session! Amazing!!!

Amazing day on the waves 🤙
I went on this day trip with a few friends and we had the best day ever! Deano was an outstanding surf instructor and an awesome guide. This was our first time surfing and we were all able to ride some good waves by the end of our lesson (thanks to Deano’s excellent instruction). He was also very knowledgeable about the area and taught us a ton about the history and wildlife of the region. We surfed at a beautiful private access beach-which was incredible as we were the only people out on the waves. From the time we got picked up in central Sydney, to the end of our excursion, everything was well planned (a very stress free day). Our confirmation email included a list of what to bring ourselves (swimsuit, towel, water bottle, sunscreen etc) which was very appreciated. Wetsuits and boards were provided along with extra water, a snack, and a delicious lunch. An awesome refresher after being out in the sun all day. We had a lot of laughs and an overall amazing time. Truly considering buying my own board after all the fun we had. I’m so glad we booked with Waves Surf School and would recommend them to anyone looking for a thorough surfing lesson and a day full of fun in the sun.
Response from the operator: Hi Dianna, Great spending the day with you guys. Nothing better than surfing with friends. Thanks for noticing the little details. Deano

Best Australian Experience
Dean was the best tour guide ever. Our entire group had never surfed before and we all made it up on the board by the end of the day. The food was also really good. This was genuinely the best part of our trip to Australia ☺️
Response from the operator: Thank you for the review Bree. That's awesome. Deano

What an eventful surf day!
I had such a wonderful time in this trip. Had great conversations with Deano and he was very thorough in his teaching of surfing techniques. Getting picked up right in Central was very convenient as well. Deano was very understanding and suggested that probably start in area closer to the shore where I felt safer and he was encouraging and helpful.
Response from the operator: Cheers for the review. Yeah you learn more when you feel comfortable. Small waves, big board Yew. Deano

My first time surfing
I got to experience my first surfing lesson at a quiet, hidden spot with hardly any people around. Dino, the instructor, was super friendly and fun.
Response from the operator: YEAH! Thanks for being a part of the day. You helped make it awesome and you did amazingly.

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Sydney.
How much does Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney cost?
+
Prices start at $175 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Sydney usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Sydney is not rushed.
Is Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 63 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Sydney, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney?
+
Around 22 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sydney can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sydney and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Learn to Surf Day Trip - Sydney start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sydney within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sydney?
+
On Outty we rank every Sydney experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include WILD Wombat and Kangaroo Day Tour, All Inclusive, Depart Syd: Blue Mountains Best All Inclusive with Local Guide, Blue Mountain Small Group Tour All Inclusive. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sydney?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sydney?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
