About this experience

Langtang Valley Trek incorporates a venture into the beautifully remote valley of Langtang with its high mountain lakes and the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa. The Langtang Valley Trekking trail is nestled in one of the most unspoiled national park of Nepal, to the north of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border and is the most easily accessible highland sanctuary from the capital. Snow-capped mountains encapsulate this remote valley with the peak of Langtang Lirung (7246m) dominating the skyline while thick forests, lush farmland, traditional villages and the deep gorges of the Bhote Koshi and the Langtang Khola prevail on the valley floor. The colorful rhododendron, oak, maple and alder tree forests are home to an array of wildlife; wild boar, Himalayan black bears, ghoral, grey langur monkeys, leopards, musk deer and the endangered red panda all call this lush, green sanctuary home.

Great first high-altitude experience

Completed the Langtang Valley trek with Mosaic Adventure and couldn’t have asked for a better first high-altitude experience. Logistics were smooth from start to finish — airport pickup, hotel briefing, and transport all handled cleanly with no stress. My guide, Ramesh, was a key part of the experience. He was calm, attentive, and very observant throughout the trek. He adjusted pacing appropriately, checked in regularly, and made sensible decisions based on conditions and how I was feeling. At altitude, that kind of situational awareness matters much more than pushing for speed or distance, and I appreciated his experience and approach. He was also warm and personable — by the end of the trek, it genuinely felt like travelling with someone who cared about your well-being. Big thanks also to Ramu, my porter, who carried my ~12kg pack the entire way with quiet consistency. That support made a real difference day to day! The itinerary itself (up to Kyanjin Gompa and Tserko Ri) remained adaptable and was well paced for acclimatisation. I was able to reach Tserko Ri successfully, and never felt rushed or pressured to push beyond my limits. One important note for future trekkers: Nepal is not Singapore in terms of hygiene and infrastructure, especially in the mountains. I did experience some stomach upset and mild diarrhea (issues with the water and food) during the trek, despite being careful with hygiene. This is not a reflection of the company, but rather the reality of trekking in remote regions. It’s something to be mentally prepared for. Overall, Mosaic Adventure delivered exactly what you would want for a trek like this: reliable logistics, a safe and sensible pace, and a guide who prioritises your experience and safety. I would recommend them, especially for those doing their first multi-day high altitude trek in Nepal.

Mountain Dream in Nepal

We had a perfect trekking tour organized by Mosaic Adventure, including a pre-trip meeting, free rental equipment selection, a packing list, and other helpful preparations. We (a couple) were the only who applied for this trek on that date, so our group consisted of four people: two trekkers, one guide, and one porter. Manu (our guide) and Ram (our porter) did a great job. During the trip, we learned a lot from them about the local language, the nature of the Langtang Valley, and the people who live there. We can definitely recommend Mosaic Adventure to anyone who is looking for a trekking experience in Nepal.

Response from the operator: Thank you for this. A small group in the Langtang Valley is honestly one of the most personal and rewarding ways to experience Nepal, and we are glad Manu and Ram made it so enriching. The valley has such a unique story and character and it sounds like it left its mark on you both. We hope to welcome you back for your next adventure.

Great trek in Langtang Valley!

We had a wonderful 6-day trek filled with awesome views and some great hiking. The weather cooperated to give us plenty of time to enjoy the spectacular mountains. We got along well with our guide and our porter. The guide paced us during the hike to avoid any altitude issues. The accommodations at the tea house are good, some better than others but all reasonable for a trekking adventure. Definitely would recommend Mosaic as they did a great job with the logistics and even picked us up and dropped us off where we were staying. We would use them for another trekking adventure.

Response from the operator: Thank you! We are happy to hear you enjoyed the Langtang trek and had a good experience with our team. Thanks for the recommendation and we’d love to see you all again for another adventure in Nepal!

Epic adventure and memories for a lifetime!

My 26 year old son and I wanted to do a 6-day trek in the Langtang Valley. I reached out to a handful of companies that offered trips, and Mosaic was by far the most responsive, thorough, organized, and professional. My choice was easy, and I didn't regret it! The communication prior to booking and traveling was excellent. They accommodated our itinerary preferences, answered all questions along the way, and provided great advance information about expectations, gear, and travel. We were greeted on arrival by a company representative who set the stage for our trek, and also provided sleeping bags to use. Much needed and appreciated! Our driver, guide, and porter were all right on time every step of the way, were able to converse well enough for our needs, and demonstrated high abilities in their respective roles. Our guide gave us very clear direction about the schedule and plans for the day. He was always open to our input, and was thoughtful in matching the pace of the trek to our tempo while still remaining on schedule for the overall trip. He provided interesting facts and details along the way, and was continually attentive to how we were feeling and doing. We thoroughly enjoyed our epic adventure and we have Mosaic Adventure to thank. I highly recommend them for any travel plans.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind and detailed review! We are truly honored to have been part of your memorable Langtang Valley trek with your son. It’s wonderful to hear that you found our team responsive, organized and professional. These are exactly the qualities we try our best to provide to every trekker. Thank you again for the recommendation and we would love to welcome you back for another adventure in Nepal anytime.

Fantastic experience, excellent staff

Mosaic made our trip to Nepal so easy. Our guide and porter for the Langtang trek, Purna and Ram were absolutely fantastic. They were always on hand to help and answer any questions and even offered to help us find something we wanted to buy the day after our trek. The langtang trek was a perfect introduction to altitude trekking for us and can’t wait to get back out to try more. Mosaic made it so we could turn our brains off from the day we arrived, organising everything from transfers to a Kathmandu day tour for us as well as visas and communicated everything to us excellently.

Response from the operator: Namaste James! Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We're so glad to hear that Purna and Ram made your Langtang trek special and that you enjoyed the seamless experience with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for more trekking in the future! 🙏

Langtang Valley Trek: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Langtang Valley Trek cost?

+

Prices start at $560 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Langtang Valley Trek take?

+

Plan for about 192 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Langtang Valley Trek worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 80 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 21 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Langtang Valley Trek?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 144 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Langtang Valley Trek suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 192-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Langtang Valley Trek?

+

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 192-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Langtang Valley Trek start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

+

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Kathmandu Food and Drink Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
