Langtang trek

The trek didn't start well with the jeep taking us to Sabru Besi breaking down due to a burnt out clutch resulting in a transfer to a bus where we had to stand for an hour and a half. All credit to Krishna the guide for sorting things out so we could complete the journey. The trek itself was great. Krishna the guide and the porters did a great job particularly getting me through as I suffered a lot from the altitude. The trek was hard work but well worth it for the amazing views particular at Kangjen Gompa. Unfortunately the jeep picking us up was delayed so we arrived back in Kathmandu in the rush hour. Couldn't fault the arrangements in advance for the trek and the team on the trek but was not impressed with the transport to and from the trek.

Response from the operator: Dear Dave , Firstly i would like to thank you so much for leaving us your first hand travel experience about b beautiful Poonhill trek We are so blessed to hear about your beautiful & a very memorable travel experience with Sports TOurs & Travel . we are so sorry for the unfortunate Jeep ride to drop you to syaprubesi . The jeep broke on way & have to transfer you with local available resources to syaprubesi. Again when , you have to come back , road was blocked , due to an accident , resulting death of a local pedestrian, resulting to a vely long blockage asking to fulfill demand of victim Family . we really apologies for the inconvenience . we hope to see you more in Coming season for other moderate treks on foothills of Annapurna . Thank you so much for choosing us for your trip planner in Nepal . Regards Milan

Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kathmandu.

How much does Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek cost?

+

Prices start at $533 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kathmandu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek take?

+

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kathmandu is not rushed.

Is Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 2 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Kathmandu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 15. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 120-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek?

+

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kathmandu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kathmandu and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Langtang Kyanjin Gompa Trek start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kathmandu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kathmandu?

+

On Outty we rank every Kathmandu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Private Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour | UNESCO World Heritage sites, Manaslu Circuit Trek, Kathmandu Food and Drink Walking Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kathmandu?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kathmandu?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
