    Highly recommend

Great boat, great captain, great time! Captain Bill was entertaining and knowledgeable about catching Salmon. The boat and gear were in excellent condition. We caught plenty of pink salmon to send home!

Unforgettable Salmon Fishing with Captain Alec

Our private salmon fishing charter with Captain Alec was the highlight of our Alaksa trip. He met us right at our cruise ship, making things quick and easy from the start. We caught a ton of fish, and Captain Alec was hands on the whole time. He's also a great storyteller, sharing local knowledge that made the trip feel personal rather than a standard tour. Even our two teenagers called it the best part of their week, which says a lot. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a fun, successful fishing charter in Ketchikan.

    Awesome private charter

This was our first time salmon fishing as a family and we had an absolute blast. Captain Frank was friendly, professional and worked hard as we reeled in 23 salmon among the four of us during our 4 hour fishing charter. It was an incredible day, would highly recommend! Captain Frank was the best.

    Best Fishing Ever !

Highlight of our Alaska trip ! We caught the Salmon limit and shipping it home . Captain Nolan made this so much fun for our crew . Highly recommend booking through ASZ vs a cruise ship. There is no worry of getting back to ship on time . The entire crew at ASZ is so friendly and knowledgeable. Stormy will address any concerns you may have . Even if you don’t like to fish , you will still love this excursion. The views were amazing. Words can’t describe the high we got this experience.

    So Worth It!

Skip any cruise excursion package fishing trips and book your own with Alaska Strike Zone. It is so worth it! They will pick you up right from the cruise ship dock and you will have an amazing time. We book a private family charter in July. Capt. Nolan was amazing! He knew exactly where the fish were. My husband, son and I caught multiple species of Salmon, Rock Fish, Halibut, and Cod! We saw amazing wildlife up close! Eagles, Humpback Whales, Jelly Fish, even a deer swimming across a cannel! It was like combining 3 cruise excursions in one! It was an amazing way to spend my Husband's birthday! They even have the ability to process the fish and have them sent to us after we returned home from our cruise. So worth it! Terry, David, and Devon W.

Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon): questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ketchikan.

How much does Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon) cost?

    +

Prices start at $395 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ketchikan usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon) take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ketchikan is not rushed.

Is Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon) worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 65 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Ketchikan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon)?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon) suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon)?

    +

Around 23 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ketchikan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ketchikan and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ketchikan Fishing Charter (salmon) start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ketchikan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Ketchikan?

    +

Ketchikan runs short, cruise-timed excursions: Misty Fjords floatplane flights, Tongass rainforest zip lines, totem park tours, crab feasts and wildlife boats up the Behm Canal. On Outty we rank every Ketchikan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ketchikan Kayak Eco-Tour, Off the Beaten Path Ketchikan Photo Safari - 3 hr., Ketchikan Shore Excursion: Rainforest Canopy Ropes and Zipline Adventure Park. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Ketchikan?

    +

May to September, matching the Alaska cruise season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Ketchikan?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
