About this experience
This trip is a departure from traditional fishing excursions in Alaska. You’ll ride in a comfortable, wide-open skiff, you’ll feel the wind in your hair, the spray on your skin, and no matter which way you turn, you’ll be immersed in an Alaskan sensory experience. We’ll outfit you in rubber raingear and place you next to a warm fire at the fish camp, but getting a little wet is part of the appeal! This trip is fast-paced, we’re not waiting around for the fish. You’ll drop in a spot and either start catching within a couple minutes or we’ll be off to the next location. When salmon are in, we rush to jig rockfish before switching over to troll

Fishing And Dining? You Bet!
This was the best excursion ever! We caught several fish, got to watch a whale blowing bubbles and feeding. James, our guide, has a great sense of humor, was very informative, and best of all a respect for the environment. After catching our fish we were taken to a beautiful area in the woods where camp was set up. Our cooked fish was enjoyed while sitting around a campfire. This trip was so enjoyable, there was no rush and plenty of time to relax and enjoy. The whole excursion was from 9-2. And at the end we received a deck of cards displaying different kinds of Alaskan fish. Even if you don’t like to fish just enjoying the boat ride and wilderness is worth it.

Amazing experience!
We booked through our cruise ship and it included transportation from the ship to the fishing dock. There were 6 of us, and our guide was Landon. It was the best excursion of our cruise. We all caught rockfish, then were taken to a private island where they cooked our catch. It was the best tasting fish I've had in my life! Landon was knowledgeable, personable, and all around a great guide!

We had such a wonderful...
We had such a wonderful time fishing. Patrick was our captain. He was very knowledgeable about the area and different kinds of fish. He was the best! We caught quite a few fish and had an amazing meal eating our fresh caught. I highly recommend this excursion!

We’re Not Crabby at All!
This was a great experience! Landon Lamb was our captain for the day and he showed us a great time. We was able to catch some Dungeness crabs, salmon, and rockfish. Our captain was great about showing us how to crab and fish. After catching the crab and fish he took us to the campsite which was absolutely beautiful! The cooks prepared our fresh catches and it was awesome!!!!! This was a great Alaskan experience!

Best excursion of our trip!
We booked Baranof through our Silverseas cruise. What a fabulous day we had! Our guide Kinani Halvorsen was the perfect guide for us! Fun, professional and knowledgeable. She put us on fish immediately. She explained the technique so all of us caught fish. Her boat was immaculate which I really appreciated. The campfire lunch was one of the best meals we had on the entire trip! If you are planning a trip to Ketchikan book this group!

Why this scores 85
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Ketchikan.
How much does Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining cost?
+
Prices start at $436 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Ketchikan usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Ketchikan is not rushed.
Is Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 85 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 345 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Ketchikan, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining?
+
Around 121 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Ketchikan can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Ketchikan and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Ketchikan Alaska Fishing and Wilderness Dining start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Ketchikan within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Ketchikan?
+
Ketchikan runs short, cruise-timed excursions: Misty Fjords floatplane flights, Tongass rainforest zip lines, totem park tours, crab feasts and wildlife boats up the Behm Canal. On Outty we rank every Ketchikan experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ketchikan Kayak Eco-Tour, Off the Beaten Path Ketchikan Photo Safari - 3 hr., Ketchikan Shore Excursion: Rainforest Canopy Ropes and Zipline Adventure Park. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Ketchikan?
+
May to September, matching the Alaska cruise season. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Ketchikan?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
