Lighthouse Excursions Exceeds Expectations
I recently took an excursion from my cruise with Lighthouse Excursions. It was an outstanding trip, we were picked up from the pier. The family owned/operated company took us for a boat ride through the straight. We saw many bald eagles, viewed Totems, and an old island lighthouse. Captian Jeff, a native of the area narrated the trip from a personal viewpoint really adding to the tour. We were served a delicous snack and beverages, too. I highly reccommend the excursion.

Not worth the price of admission. Sorry
The cruise line busses you to the boat. Board the. Kay and proceed to have a tour of the exact same waterway that we came in in the cruise ship. Saw some totem poles and a couple of eagle and a light house ( all visible from the ship as you roll in ….. on the port side ). We were less than impressed. Not worth the $124 per person !

I’d like to take the opportunity to make the case that our tour is in fact worth the price of admission. While it is true that much our tour takes place in the waters that your ship will have transited, there are notable distinctions to make. 1. Your ship will be traveling an average of about a mile offshore and will be making no stops until they reach the pier. Our vessels are traveling an average of a few hundred feet from shore, and make frequent stops to view wildlife, and historic sites such as Totem Bight State Park and Guard Island Lighthouse. 2. The cruise line will not provide a customized narration specific to the waterways surrounding Ketchikan, sharing stories and information about local history, cultural customs, industry, and of course wildlife. 3. While you can certainly find a good meal on the cruise ship, we provide an entirely locally sourced snack of wild Alaskan alder-smoked salmon, bull-kelp pickles, smoked salmon dip and artisan Alaskan-made chocolate. 4. The cruise line will be unlikely to provide complimentary binoculars or have a crew member available at all times to assist with your sighting of wildlife while sharing information over and above what is included in the captain’s narration. 5. While the crew of the cruise lines provide extraordinary customer service, you will rarely find that any of them are from Alaska and have life experience in the region. Almost all of our crew members live and work in Ketchikan year-round. Regarding the cost, if you compare our tour with other experiences of similar description and length you will find that to book an experience on the water with all of the inclusions that we offer you will likely be paying between $180-$220 per person. We take great pride in offering a high-quality Alaskan experience at a rate that is accessible to as many people as possible. If you are content to view Ketchikan from the veranda as the ship sails through the narrows, then by all means, save the money. But if you would like to dive into the culture of SE Alaska and learn as much as possible along the way, please do consider booking our trip.

Wonderful!
Such a fun excursion! We saw many eagles, enjoyed delicious hot cocoa and snacks and were treated to excellent narration by the captain. One tip- book with the company rather than your cruise line. Apparently we overpaid by about $100. Yikes!

Ferry ride through paradise
Excellent wonderful experience. Captain and crew were fantastic. Beautiful sunny day with breathtaking scenery. Definitely a perfect choice
