About this experience
Immerse yourself in Istanbul's wonderful history and lively culture with this one day tour that takes you to some of the old city's most popular and iconic landmarks. The tour begins with a pick up at your hotel. Hop in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle, and then head off for the first stop of the tour: the Roman Hippodrome, where chariot races occurred during the Roman and Byzantine eras. Check out the Blue Mosque, the only mosque with six minarets, known for the lovely blue colors of the iznik tiles used inside. Near the Blue Mosque is the German Fountain, built to commemorate Emperor Wilhelm II, and the majestic Hagia Sophia, a basilica made in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian. Your last stop for the tour is the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets worldwide! Comprised of over 61 streets and 4,000 different shops, this is the perfect stop to purchase memorable souvenirs to bring home to your family and friends.

Loved it!
We had the absolute pleasure of having Fatih Mehmet as our tour guide during our visit to the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Fatih is incredibly knowledgeable—a true history buff who brought centuries of history to life with his engaging storytelling. His passion for the subject made the tour feel like an immersive journey through time. Fatih’s kindness and patience stood out as he thoughtfully answered all of our questions and ensured everyone in our group felt included. His sense of humor added an extra layer of enjoyment, making the tour both informative and fun. He truly made these iconic landmarks come alive with fascinating details and historical insights. If you’re looking for a guide who can make history captivating and memorable while keeping the atmosphere light and welcoming, Fatih is the one to go with. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you for the kind words! We’re so happy your visit went so smoothly. Kind Regards ; Tourmania_team

The BEST hands down!
Our new profound information about Turkey’s history and beautiful architecture wouldn’t have been possible without Elfi’s help. From the moment we met her she was nothing but welcoming and kind to both my children ages eleven and fifteen, and to my parents who are both in their sixties. She was also extremely accommodating letting us take breaks and taking our pictures when needed. Turkey is well known for the Ottoman Empire and is rich in history. My family and I got to learn way more about the oriental culture with the help of Elfi’s knowledge. She is extremely intelligent, funny, relatable, and she is all for going at the tourists pace. From helping us shop for jewelry and souvenirs in the grand bazaar, to taking us to lunch at an exquisite (and cheap) kebap restaurant. She carried interesting and meaningful conversation with all my family members, especially with my fifteen year old. And considering it was only her first year, it felt as if she was an expert at the job. My family and I enjoyed Turkey so much and would definitely go again. Elfi is certainly a five stars in my book and I would recommend her over any tour guide. Parents review: My parents have never been to Turkey before, so for their first time they had a marvelous time. They would also recommend it to anyone who could take the time to fly out to Turkey. But before they recommended it to anyone, they’re going to go back first!!
Response from the operator: We are incredibly grateful that you took the time out to leave us a wonderful review.

Why this scores 62
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Istanbul.
How much does Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque cost?
+
Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Istanbul usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Istanbul is not rushed.
Is Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 13 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Istanbul, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Istanbul can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Istanbul and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Istanbul City Highlights Tour w/Hagia Sophia & Blue Mosque start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Istanbul within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Istanbul?
+
On Outty we rank every Istanbul experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Istanbul 1, 2 or 3-Day Private Guided Istanbul Tour, Istanbul Luxury Bosphorus Yacht Cruise with Asian Side Stop, ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Istanbul?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Istanbul?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
